Amélie Mauresmo defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final, 2–6, 6–3, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships. It was her second and final major title, having won the Australian Open earlier in the year. Mauresmo also became the first Frenchwoman to win Wimbledon since Suzanne Lenglen in 1925. Henin-Hardenne was attempting to complete the career Grand Slam.
Venus Williams defeated Marion Bartoli in the final, 6–4, 6–1 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2007 Wimbledon Championships. Williams, ranked 31st at the time and seeded 23rd, became the lowest ranked and lowest seeded woman ever to win Wimbledon. This was Williams' fourth Wimbledon singles title and sixth major title overall, and she became the first women's champion to earn the same amount of prize money as the men's champion, following the tournament's decision to award equal pay for the first time that year.

It was the Czech Republic's first victory in women's doubles, and its third consecutive medal. In the bronze medal match, Brazil's Laura Pigossi and Luisa Stefani defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina of the Russian Olympic Committee, 4–6, 6–4, [11–9]. It was Brazil's first Olympic tennis medal.

Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara defeated Nicole Melichar and Demi Schuurs in the final, 6–1, 6–4, to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2021 Eastbourne International. It marked their fourth title together of the season, and their seventh consecutive win in a final match over two years. The victory earned Aoyama her 16th career WTA Tour doubles title and Shibahara's seventh.
