Nidhan Singh Gudhan was a communist activist, a central team member of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist). He was tortured and then hanged by Khalistan movement extremists. At the time of his death, he was leading Kisan Sangharsh Samiti of Ropar district. He was the founding editor of the Journal Surkh Rekha. [1] He also held the president-ship of Punjab Kisan Union.

Death

During Punjab insurgency, Khalistan movement extremists kidnapped Nidhan Singh Gudhan. He was tortured as the extremists were trying to investigate the secrets of Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) and about their revolutionary paper "Surkh Rekha". On refusing their demands, he was hanged to death. [1] [2]

Deepak Dhawan

Deepak Dhawan was the State Committee member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) Punjab (India) and Joint Secretary of Khet Mazdoor Union, a mass organisation of CPI(M), which fights for the rights of landless agricultural labourers. He was a member of All India Students Federation (AISF) in D.A.V College, Amritsar & an elected President of Student Council of Guru Nanak Dev University. On 19 May 1987, he was killed by the Khalistan movement extremists at village Sangha, Tarn Taran district.

Jaimal Singh Padda

Jaimal Singh Padda was a poet, communist activist. He was shot dead on 17 March 1988 in Lakhan ka Padda village, Kapurthala district by Khalistan movement extremists. He was filmed reciting his poem Una Mitterandi Yaad Pyari, before his death, by Anand Patwardhan in his documentary Una Mitterandi Yaad Pyari.

Arjan Singh Mastana was well-known communist leader of Punjab. He was elected to the Punjab legislative assembly from Valtoha constituency on the Communist Party of India's election symbol. He was assassinated on 27 March 1986 by Khalistani terrorists.

Central Organising Committee, Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) was a communist party in India, one of the main splinter factions of the original Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist). COC, CPI(ML) occupied a middle position between the pro-Charu Majumdar group led by Mahadev Mukherjee and the anti-Majumdar group led by Satyanarayan Singh. Failing to articulate a common ideological position, COC, CPI(ML) soon suffered internal divisions and splits. Two of the splinter groups of COC, CPI(ML) in Andhra Pradesh are predecessors of the present-day Communist Party of India (Maoist).

Kanwaljeet Singh (activist)

Kanwaljeet Singh is an activist, author working in various social and political organisations. He is currently a member of the central committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, the state president of the Chandigarh Unit of All India Central Council of Trade Unions. He has worked as state president of the Punjab unit of Revolutionary Youth Association. He graduated as engineer in Mechatronics and Industrial Automation from Indo Swiss, Central Scientific Instruments Organisation Chandigarh. He also holds a Master of Art in Philosophy degree from Panjab University. He briefly worked as an Engineer in GE Healthcare and NCR Corporation. In 2005, he left his job to join a social movement for justice for Bant Singh. As an author he has published articles on op-ed pages of Punjabi Tribune and Nawan Zamana. In his early days into activism he was a theatre activist performing street and stage plays. He acted in a film The Fourth Direction as Jugal one of the main protagonist.
