Nigel Charles Hallett (born 6 February 1953) is an Australian politician. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council representing the South West Region from 2005 to 2017. Elected to Parliament in the 2005 state election he was a member of the Liberal Party until 16 June 2016, when he announced he was resigning from the Liberal Party and joining the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, [1] [2] which he represented at the 2017 election. He was not re-elected. [3]

Hallett completed his early education in Bridgetown but completed high school education at Hampton Senior High School in Perth.

He is married to Susan Hallett and they have two sons; Ian and Michael.

In 2020 the Western Australian Corruption and Crime Commission found that Hallett improperly employed his girlfriend in his office, despite her not doing any meaningful work. He was also found to have engaged in serious misconduct in using his electorate allowance to fund personal lifestyle expenses, including expensive dinners and visits to strip clubs. [4]

Kenneth Charles Baston is an Australian politician who is a current Liberal Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Council representing the Mining and Pastoral Region. First elected to parliament at the 2005 state election, Baston was elevated to Cabinet following the 2013 state election, and held the positions of Minister for Agriculture and Food and Minister for Fisheries until March 2016.

Anthony James Fels is a former Liberal Member of Parliament. He was the member of the Western Australian Legislative Council representing the Agricultural Region from 2005 to 2009, representing the Liberal Party (2005–2008) and later the Family First Party (2008–2009). In 2007, Fels was found to be in contempt of Parliament by a select committee report for giving false answers to a parliamentary inquiry. Despite attempts from the Liberal Party to remove Fels, he resigned from the Liberal Party in August 2008, and attempted to form his own party called People Against Daylight Saving. He later joined Family First. He was leader of WA Family First before they merged with the Australian Conservatives.

The 2017 Western Australian state election was held on Saturday 11 March 2017 to elect members to the Parliament of Western Australia, including all 59 seats in the Legislative Assembly and all 36 seats in the Legislative Council. The eight-and-a-half-year two-term incumbent Liberal–WA National government, led by Premier Colin Barnett, was defeated in a landslide by the Labor opposition, led by Opposition Leader Mark McGowan.

The 2018 Victorian state election was held on Saturday, 24 November 2018 to elect the 59th Parliament of Victoria. All 88 seats in the Legislative Assembly and all 40 seats in the Legislative Council were up for election. The first-term incumbent Labor government, led by Premier Daniel Andrews, won a second four-year term, defeating the Liberal/National Coalition opposition, led by Opposition Leader Matthew Guy. Charles Leonard Smith is an Australian politician. He was elected at the 2017 Western Australian election to represent the East Metropolitan Region in the Western Australian Legislative Council from 22 May 2017 for Pauline Hanson's One Nation. He was elected for four years, with Legislative Council terms beginning on 22 May 2017. In June 2019, Smith resigned from One Nation to sit as an independent.
