Nijat Gurbanov (Azerbaijani : Nicat Qurbanov; born 17 February 1992) is an Azerbaijani footballer who plays as a right winger for Georgian club Samtredia.
Nijat Gurbanov is an Azerbaijani professional footballer, born on February 17, 1992, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Gurbanov has established himself as a skilled midfielder, known for his strong right foot and tactical versatility on the field. Gurbanov’s football career began in the youth team of Neftçi Baku, where he developed his skills from 2006 to 2015. His senior career started with Simurq, where he played from 2011 to 2014. He later returned to Neftçi Baku for the 2014-2015 season, before playing for Zire, Kepez, Sumqayit, and Shamakhi in Azerbaijan. He also played for Samtredia FC in Georgia. On the international stage, Gurbanov represented Azerbaijan at various youth levels, starting with the U-15 team in 2006. He continued his career with the U-17, U-19, and U-21 teams, showcasing his talent and commitment to the national squad. Throughout his career, Gurbanov has earned significant accolades, including winning the Azerbaijan Football Cup in the 2019-2020 season and securing a silver medal in the Azerbaijan Premier League during the 2015-2016 season. In 2022, Gurbanov received his UEFA C-category coaching license and began his coaching career at Beşiktaş Soccer School. Additionally, during the 2022-2023 season, he worked as a football expert on Azerbaijan’s leading sports TV channel, CBC Sport, where he provided analytical commentary. During this period, he also started working as a regional manager at the Football Development Fund. Since 2024, Nijat Gurbanov has been coaching in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. His journey in football reflects his dedication, skill, and passion for the game, making him a respected figure in Azerbaijani football both as a player and a coach.
