Nikhil-Vinay are an Indian music director duo consisting of Nikhil Kamath [1] and Vinay Tiwari. [2] The duo were active in the Hindi film industry from 1991 until their split in 2006. [3]

Bollywood Hindi language film industry

Hindi cinema, often known as Bollywood and formerly as Bombay cinema, is the Indian Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai. The term is a portmanteau of "Bombay" and "Hollywood". The industry is related to other regional industries, making up Indian Cinema – the world's largest by number of feature films produced.

Nikhil and Vinay are both trained in classical music. [4] Singer Anuradha Paudwal discovered the duo and recommended them to Gulshan Kumar, owner of T-Series music company, and director Chandra Barot, who signed them for the 1991 romantic film Pyar Bhara Dil. [5] The song "Banke Kitab Teri" from the film became popular. [5] The duo then went on to compose music for over 20 films. Their initial successes included Bewafa Sanam (1995), a film which was breakthrough for playback singer Sonu Nigam, English Babu Desi Mem (1996), Uff Yeh Mohabbat (1997) and Papa The Great (2000). [6] The duo composed music for two of Sonu Nigam's successful music albums, Jaan (1999) and Yaad (2001). [7] They went on to score music for Anubhav Sinha's box office success Tum Bin which included hit songs such as "Koi Fariyaad", "Chhoti Choti Raatein" and "Tumhare Siva". [8] Some of their other successful ventures include Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam , Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai , Muskaan and Kuch Dil Ne Kaha. The duo have also been accused of plagiarism by Pakistani singer Faisal Latif. [9]

Gulshan Kumar Dua, known professionally as Gulshan Kumar, was the founder of the T-Series music label, and a Bollywood movie producer. He founded T-Series in the 1980s and established it as a leading record label in the 1990s.

The composer-duo have mostly worked for the music label T-Series. [10] The duo have also composed for television serials such as Thoda Hai Thodeb Ki Zaroorat Hai and Ajeeb Daastan. [10] The duo split in 2006 after being 15 years together. [3]

It is primarily known for Bollywood music soundtracks and Indi-pop music. As of 2014, T-Series is India's largest music record label, with up to a 35% share of the Indian music market, followed by Sony Music India and Zee Music. Rakesh Vashisth, once known as Rakesh Bapat, is an Indian actor and model. He was the runner up in the 1999 Grasim Mr. India contest, and first runners-up at the Mr Intercontinental. Amit Kumar Indian singer

Amit Kumar Ganguly is an Indian versatile film playback singer, actor, entertainer, producer and director of Hindi films. Recent years he sung songs in his own compositions. Kumar launched his own music production company, named Kumar Brothers Music. Amit released many music videos on YouTube. He has sung many Bollywood and regional film songs since the 1970s, including 170 Hindi compositions by R.D. Burman, and was actively singing in Indian films from 1970 to 1994.
