The shooting competitions at the 1996 Summer Olympics took place at the Wolf Creek Shooting Complex near Atlanta, United States. Competitions were held in men's events and women's events. For men's and women's double trap, it was the first Olympic competition, a women's shotgun event also had been added.
Olympic Skeet is a variant of skeet shooting, and the specific variant used in the Olympic Games. The discipline is sanctioned by the International Shooting Sport Federation. Two throwing machines at different heights launch a series of 25 targets in a specific order, some as singles and some as doubles, with the shooter having a fixed position between them. Both men's and women's competitions consist of five such series. The top six competitors shoot an additional series as a final round, on targets filled with special powder to show hits more clearly to the audience. The competitors use shotguns of 12 bore or smaller. allowed are all actions, including double barrel breech loaders, semi-automatic or others, but not pump action guns.
Andrea Benelli is a retired Italian skeet shooter. He competed at the 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics, and won a gold medal in 2004 and a bronze in 1996. In 2004, he and Marko Kemppainen finished with 149 hits out of 150, but Kemppainen missed first in the shoot-off. Benelli also won the individual world title in 1987 and 1990, placing second in 1986, and third in 1999. In 1996 he set two world records at 125/125 and 150/150.

The men's skeet shooting competition at the 2000 Summer Olympics was the last shooting event of the Sydney Games, held on 22 and 23 September. Mykola Milchev of Ukraine became the first shooter to hit all 150 targets at an Olympic competition in skeet.
Men's skeet was one of the fifteen shooting events at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Ennio Falco shot a perfect 125 in the qualification round and a 24 in the final, winning ahead of Mirosław Rzepkowski and Andrea Benelli, who won the bronze-medal shoot-off against Ole Riber Rasmussen.
Mostafa Hamdy is an Egyptian sport shooter. He competed in the men's skeet event at the Summer Olympics in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2012, and 2020.
Abdullah Al-Rashidi is a Kuwaiti sport shooter and three-time world champion. He competed at the Summer Olympics in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020, winning bronze medals in men's skeet in both 2016 and 2020.
Clive Barton is an Australian sport shooter. Barton competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the Men's skeet event, in which he tied for 14th place. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed in the Men's skeet event as well, finishing in 29th and 35th places on each day of the competition.
Juan Carlos Romero Arribas is a Guatemalan sport shooter. Romero made his official debut for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he placed twenty-sixth in men's skeet, with a score of 118 points, tying his position with five other shooters including British-born Cypriot Antonis Nikolaidis.
Michael John Maskell is a Barbadian sport shooter. Maskell represented Barbados in five editions of the Olympic Games -- 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2016 -- having narrowly missed reaching the final podium twice in men's skeet shooting at both the 1999 and 2011 Pan American Games.
Jan-Henrik Heinrich is a German sport shooter who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics and in the 2000 Summer Olympics. In 1996, he tied for 26th place in the men's skeet event. In 2000, he tied for 14th place in the men's skeet event.
Hendrikus "Hennie" Dompeling was a Dutch sport shooter. He was born in Haarlemmermeer. He has competed for the Netherlands in skeet shooting at five Olympics, and has been close to an Olympic medal in 2000. Outside the Olympic career, Dompeling has produced a phenomenal record of twenty-one medals in a major international competition: two bronze at the World Championships, a total of four at the ISSF World Cup final, a total of nine at numerous ISSF World Cup meets, and a total of six under both junior and senior category at the European Championships.
Saud Habib is a Kuwaiti sport shooter. He represented his nation Kuwait in two editions of the Olympic Games, and also won a bronze medal in men's skeet shooting at the 2000 ISSF World Cup meet in New Delhi, India. Habib is also a member of the Kuwait City Shooting Club, where he trains full-time under Czech-born coach and 2000 Olympic silver medalist Petr Málek.
Franck Durbesson is a French sport shooter. He competed for France in the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics; he tied for seventh place in the men's skeet event in 1996 and tied for ninth place in the men's skeet event in 2000.
Boriss Timofejevs is a Latvian sport shooter. He competed in the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Summer Olympics. At the 1992 Olympics, he tied for 11th place in the skeet event. At the 1996 Olympics, he placed 6th in the men's skeet event. At the 2000 Olympics, he tied for 12th place in the men's skeet event.
Jason Caswell is a Canadian sport shooter. He competed at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. In 1996, he placed 53rd in the men's skeet event. In 2000, he tied for 19th place in the men's skeet event.
Geoffrey Jukes is a New Zealand sport shooter. He competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the men's skeet event, in which he tied for 19th place.
David Cunningham is an Australian sport shooter. He competed at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics; in 1996, he tied for 20th place in the men's skeet event, while in 2000, he tied for 39th place in the men's skeet event.
Brian Thomson is a sport shooter from New Zealand. He competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the men's skeet event, in which he tied for 47th place.
