It is described as "a tragic comedy or comic tragedy", and features five parallel stories with human group behaviour as the common theme. The film is notable for its long takes with no cuts within the scenes. This is related to Östlund's background as a skiing film director, where a cut would only indicate failure. The longest scene lasts for seven minutes.
The Guitar Mongoloid is a 2004 Swedish drama film written and directed by Ruben Östlund, about different people living outside the norms in the fictional city Jöteborg, strikingly similar to real-life Göteborg. Although not a documentary, most of the people seen in the film are non-actors more or less playing themselves.

Fateme Ekhtesari, also Fatemeh Ekhtesari, is an Iranian poet. Ekhtesari lived in Karaj and she writes in Persian. In 2013, she appeared at the poetry festival in Gothenburg. After she arrived back in Iran she was imprisoned and later released on bail. Her verdict came in 2015 when she was sentenced to 99 lashes and 11.5 years imprisonment for crimes against the Iranian government, for immoral behaviour and blasphemy.
Nils "Nisse" Andersson is a Swedish former football manager. Nisse became the football manager of AIK Fotboll team in 1987. He too served as the manager of Sweden U21 team from 1987 to 1990. In 1990, he took charge as the interim manager of the Sweden national team for the rest of the year. In 1991 Tommy Svensson took charge. Andersson and also played for key role as a coach of Sweden at the 1992 Summer Olympics, where the national team finished in fifth place.
