Nils Lundkvist (born 27 July 2000) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Lundkvist was selected in the first round, 28th overall, of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. [1]
After two impressive seasons in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Luleå HF, Lundkvist made his NHL debut in 2021 with the Rangers, prior to the following season was traded to the Dallas Stars.
Lundkvist played as a youth within the Luleå HF organization of the Swedish Hockey League. [2] He made his professional debut as a 17-year-old in the 2017–18 season.
Lundkvist recorded a break out year in the 2019–20 season with Luleå HF, recording 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points through 45 games in finishing with the most assists and points as junior in the league.
In his fourth season in the SHL in 2020–21, Lundkvist having evolved into a top pairing blueliner, recorded 14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points in 52 games for the team. He led all defencemen in goals and power-play goals and his 14 goals were the most goals recorded by a defenceman under 21 in SHL history. Following a postseason exit after seven playoff games, he was awarded the Salming Trophy as the league's best defenceman. [3]
On 3 June 2021, Lundkvist was signed by draft club, the New York Rangers, to a three-year, entry-level contract. [4] On 11 October, the Rangers awarded Lundkvist with the Lars-Erik Sjöberg Award, which is given to best rookie in training camp. [5] Remaining on the Rangers roster to open the 2021–22 season, Lundkvist later scored his first NHL goal on 8 December 2021, at Madison Square Garden against the Colorado Avalanche.
On 19 September 2022, Lundkvist was traded to the Dallas Stars in exchange for a conditional 2023 first-round pick and a conditional 2025 fourth-round pick. [6]

Brynäs IF is a Swedish professional ice hockey team from Gävle. The club currently plays in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), promoted from the HockeyAllsvenskan, the second tier of ice hockey in Sweden, following the 2023–24 season. The club played in the top-tier Swedish league from 1960 to 2023, a total of 63 seasons, longer than any other Swedish club, before suffering relegation for the first time in franchise history at the conclusion of the 2022–23 season. They have won the Swedish championship 13 times, second only to Djurgården with 16 wins. In the 2023/2024 Hockeyallsvenskan season Brynäs won promotion back to the SHL after beating Djurgården 4-0 in the final.
Frölunda Hockey Club, previously known as the Frölunda Indians, is a Swedish professional ice hockey club based in Gothenburg. They currently play in the highest Swedish league, the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), formerly the Elitserien, where they have played for most of the club's existence. They last played in the lower division, the Allsvenskan, in 1995. Frölunda have won the national championship title five times: in 1965, 2003, 2005, 2016 and 2019.
Luleå Hockeyförening is a lall ice hockey club from Luleå, Sweden. The club has been playing in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), the top tier of ice hockey in Sweden, since the 1984–85 season. They are the northernmost team in the league and have won the Swedish championships once, in 1996. He became the 15th goaltender in NHL history to score a goaltender goal on 15 October 2024, in the Wild's 4–1 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

The 2020–21 SHL season was the 46th season of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). The regular season began in September 2020 and ended on 3 April 2021, it was then followed by the playoffs and the relegation playoffs. The league consisted of the 14 teams that competed in the 2019–20 season; because of the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden, no relegation or promotion took place after the previous season. The Växjö Lakers won the regular season for the third time in club history. In the SHL qualifier, Brynäs IF defeated HV71 in five games to stay in the SHL. The Växjö Lakers won the Le Mat Trophy for the third time, defeating Rögle BK by 4 games to 1 in the playoffs final.
