Nina Angelovska (born 13 July 1988 in Skopje) is the former Minister of Finance in North Macedonia. She is also an entrepreneur, UNCTAD eTrade for Women Advocate and president of the Macedonian E-commerce Association. She co-founded and was heading the first deal platform and leading e-commerce company in Macedonia, Grouper.mk. She made a successful exit when the Polish Group Asseco SEE acquired her company, Grouper.mk.

Early life and career

Angelovska was educated in Skopje at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University where she obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in E-business at the Faculty of Economics. [1] Angelovska graduated as student of the year and was awarded Frank Manning for best student in the generation in economic sciences in 2010. Angelovska won a national contest for most innovative business plan and co-founded Grouper.mk in 2011, known as the first Macedonian deal platform and a leading Macedonian e-commerce company. [2] [3] Angelovska obtained her doctorate degree in 2016 in Management at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University. [3]

Before joining the Government, Angelovska was heading Grouper.mk as a CEO and was also working as a consultant in digital economy, business development and e-commerce. [1] Grouper employed 20 people and had 200,000 customers in 2018. [3]

In 2016 Angelovska was recognized in 100 Female Founders in Europe, a list composed by the German startup magazine The Hundert. In 2018 she was named Forbes 30 Under 30 in E-commerce and Retail for Europe. [3] In 2019 UNCTAD recognized her as one of the seven global advocates for Women in eTrade.

Political career

In August 2019 Angelovska was appointed Minister of Finance in North Macedonia. [2] She was appointed by the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev who had previously surprised critics by undertaking the finance role in addition to that of prime minister. [4]

On 24 September 2019 the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development announced seven "eTrade for Women Advocates" from the developing world. The others were Nazanin Daneshvar, Clarisse Iribagiza, Xiaofei Yao, Patricia Zoundi Yao, Claudia de Heredia and Helianti Hilman. It was announced on the periphery of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. [2]

Angelovska interviewed Candace Nkoth Bisseck about "eTrade for Women Advocates" for Forbes in 2020. [5] Her 2020 budget for North Macedonia increased spending by 50% investing in human capital (health, education etc.) whilst planning to also cut the national debt in relation to GNP. [6]

The Saints Cyril and Methodius University is a public research university in Skopje, North Macedonia. It is the oldest and largest public university in the country. Džordže Arsov is a former mayor of the municipality of Kisela Voda. He was born in 1946 in Strumica, then in SFR Yugoslavia. He finished primary and secondary education in his home town and completed his graduate studies in Skopje. In 1970, he graduated with honors from the faculty of mechanical engineering, St.Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and started to work as a professor at the high school ASUC in Skopje. After four years at ASUC and as a deputy director of the school, he left and started to work in the newly established trading and marketing department of the Metalski Zavod Tito (MZT). Under his management, the department became a leader in its sector and became its own independent organization MZT Commerce, employing approximately 140 people and responsible for over 90% of the revenues of MZT. This trading and marketing organization became an initiator for association of all commercial services of MZT in the process opening many offices in former Yugoslavia as well as in Moscow, Sofia, Frankfurt, Berlin, New York, and 12 other places around the world. MZT Commerce, under Arsov's leadership, also became an exclusive representative of many firms from former Yugoslavia for the Western European, U.S., and Middle Eastern markets. Arsov was the President and managing director of the MZT Commerce until 1991.

Zoran Jolevski is a Macedonian diplomat and the former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Macedonia. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Defense, he served as Macedonia's Ambassador to the United States of America. In November 2008, he was appointed chief negotiator to the Macedonia naming dispute, and in 2011 he was appointed Ambassador to the United Mexican States and as Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States. He served as Secretary General of the late Macedonian president Boris Trajkovski from 2000–2004. He holds a Ph.D. in International Economy from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje.
