Eva Ulla Nina Burton (born 5 October 1946) is a Swedish poet and essayist.

Burton's writings have, among other things, focused on the intersection between natural sciences and humanities. The essay book Den nya kvinnostaden was nominated for the August Prize in 2005. Her book Flodernas bok won Stora fackbokspriset in 2012. In 2016 Burton was awarded the August Prize for non-fiction for Gutenberggalaxens nova . [1] She was nominated to the culture prize of Dagens Nyheter in 2021 for her book Livets tunna väggar. [2]

She has been a member of the Samfundet De Nio literary society since 1994 and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences since 2009.[ citation needed ]

Swedish folk music is a genre of music based largely on folkloric collection work that began in the early 19th century in Sweden. The primary instrument of Swedish folk music is the fiddle. Another common instrument, unique to Swedish traditions, is the nyckelharpa. Most Swedish instrumental folk music is dance music; the signature music and dance form within Swedish folk music is the polska. Vocal and instrumental traditions in Sweden have tended to share tunes historically, though they have been performed separately. Beginning with the folk music revival of the 1970s, vocalists and instrumentalists have also begun to perform together in folk music ensembles.

The Nordic Prize is a literary award presented annually by the Swedish Academy. The recipient is someone from the Nordic countries who has done significant work in any of the Academy's areas of operations or interests. The inaugural award was in 1986 and was founded with a donation from Karen and Karl Ragnar Gierows. The prize amount consists of SKr 400,000. The prize has been referred to as the "little Nobel" because it is awarded by the same Academy that gives the Nobel Prize.

<i>The Great Enigma</i> Book by Tomas Tranströmer

The Great Enigma is a 2004 collection of poetry by the Swedish writer Tomas Tranströmer. It consists of five poems in free format, followed by 45 haiku in eleven suites. It is one of the two collections Tranströmer wrote after his 1990 stroke, and it was therefore written at a slow pace with the left hand. It was published in English in 2006.
