Makerere University is Uganda's largest and oldest institution of higher learning, first established as a technical school in 1922, and the oldest currently active university in East Africa. It became an independent national university in 1970. Today, Makerere University is composed of nine colleges and one school offering programmes for about 36,000 undergraduates and 4,000 postgraduates. The main administrative block was gutted by fire in September 2020 and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.

James Shinyabulo Mutende was a Ugandan veterinarian, economist, academic and politician. He was the State Minister of Industry in the Ugandan Cabinet from 27 May 2011 until his death. He replaced Father Simon Lokodo, who was appointed State Minister for Ethics & Integrity in the Office of the President. On account of being a cabinet minister, James Mutende was also an ex officio Member of Parliament.

Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School is an all-girl boarding school located in Kampala, Uganda. The school was founded in 1954 by Prince Badru Kakungulu, a Buganda Royal, in 1954, to offer post-primary education to the Muslim girl-child. Today it admits girls of all faiths.

St. Leo's College, Kyegobe is a Catholic-based, government-aided residential boys' secondary school, located in Fort Portal, Kabarole District, in the Western Region of Uganda. The school offers both "O" and "A" level education.
Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, also Bidandi Ssali, is a Ugandan politician and businessman. He is the founder of the People's Progressive Party in Uganda and served as its president. He was also the Minister for Local Government from 1989 to 2004, and an unsuccessful candidate in the 2011 general election. During Idi Amin's regime in the 1970s, Bidandi Ssali worked as a football manager.
Joshua Wanume Kibedi was an Ugandan lawyer, politician and diplomat, who served as the Foreign Minister between January 1971 and January 1973 during the early years of the regime of Idi Amin. However, Kibedi resigned as Foreign Minister in 1973 after the murder of his uncle, Shaban Nkutu, by Amin. Kibedi went into exile and became a leading critic of Idi Amin's dictatorship. He would later serve as Uganda's Ambassador to the United Nations from 1986 to 1988.
Ngora High School is a secondary boarding school for boys and girls in the Ngora institutional complex, Ngora District, Uganda. As of 2015, the school had 1357 students enrolled in class. It is one of the oldest educational establishments in Uganda, founded in 1914 by Anglican missionaries. Ngora High school provides a wide variety of classes at both O and A levels. It is one of the most academically distinguished schools in the region.
Francis Zaake is a businessman and Member of the 11th Parliament of Uganda representing Mityana Municipality. He was first elected to Parliament in the 2016 general elections as an Independent Member. In late 2020, he crossed to the National Unity Platform (NUP), Uganda's leading opposition Party. He ran for MP in Mityana Municipality in January 2021 on the NUP ticket and won a second term. Then, until his removal by the parliament in March 2022, he served as a Commissioner of Parliament, representing the entire Opposition on the highest decision-making body of the Ugandan Parliament
John Mikloth Magoola Luwuliza-Kirunda was a prominent Ugandan physician who served numerous roles in the Idi Amin government, serving both as Ministers of Internal Affairs of Uganda and Organizing Secretary of the Uganda People's Congress, serving in the latter role twice.

Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa is a Ugandan teacher, business man and entrepreneur who serves as the director and president of a football club, Vipers SC. He is the former president of the Uganda football governing board FUFA where he served for nine straight years, the second longest serving FUFA president after Kabaka Daudi Chwa in (1924-1932). He is also the executive director and former Head teacher of the school St. Mary's Secondary School Kitende.
