It is commonly known as Laal Girja. The Church was established in 1876 by the Baptist missionaries of Suri. [1] The building was made following European architectural style. In 2016 the Church Committee renovated the building. [2]

The Santali Latin alphabet was invented in the 1890s by the Norwegian missionary Paul Olaf Bodding, and is still used by some Santhals, especially the members of the Northern Evangelical Lutheran Church (NELC).
