Northern Line were a British-based boy band, consisting originally of Dan Corsi, Andy Love, Ian Mason, Michael Sharpe and Lee Baldry,^[1] with the later addition of Ziggy Lichman and Warren Morris in the line-up changes.

The United Kingdom (UK), officially the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is a sovereign country located off the north-western coast of the European mainland. It is also the 22nd-most populous country, with an estimated 66.0 million inhabitants in 2017.

A boy band is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation, singing love songs marketed towards young women. Being vocal groups, most boy band members do not play musical instruments, either in recording sessions or on stage, making the term something of a misnomer. However, exceptions do exist. Many boy bands dance as well as sing, usually giving highly choreographed performances.

Zachary Sami P Lichman, commonly known as Ziggy and also Zac or Zach is a former member of the boy band Northern Line (1998–2000) and reality TV contestant, having appeared in the 8th series of the UK edition of Big Brother.

History

The all-male vocal group were signed with Global Talent (Records) Ltd. and released three singles charting in the UK Singles Chart; "Run for Your Life" (#18 in October 1999), "Love on the Northern Line" (#15 in March 2000) and "All Around the World" (#27 in June 2000). Northern Line toured England with Steps in 2000, during Steps' 'Steptacular' tour.^[2]^[3]

In the music industry, a single is a type of release, typically a song recording of fewer tracks than an LP record or an album. This can be released for sale to the public in a variety of different formats. In most cases, a single is a song that is released separately from an album, although it usually also appears on an album. Typically, these are the songs from albums that are released separately for promotional uses such as digital download or commercial radio airplay and are expected to be the most popular. In other cases a recording released as a single may not appear on an album.

The UK Singles Chart is compiled by the Official Charts Company (OCC), on behalf of the British record industry, listing the top-selling singles in the United Kingdom, based upon physical sales, paid-for downloads and streaming. The Official Chart, broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and MTV, is the UK music industry's recognised official measure of singles and albums popularity because it is the most comprehensive research panel of its kind, today surveying over 15,000 retailers and digital services daily, capturing 99.9% of all singles consumed in Britain across the week, and over 98% of albums. To be eligible for the chart, a single is currently defined by the Official Charts Company (OCC) as either a 'single bundle' having no more than four tracks and not lasting longer than 25 minutes or one digital audio track not longer than 15 minutes with a minimum sale price of 40 pence. The rules have changed many times as technology has developed, the most notable being the inclusion of digital downloads in 2005 and streaming in July 2014.

After they disbanded

Ziggy Lichman was a housemate in Big Brother 8 in 2007, and finished in fourth place. Dan Corsi is in the modelling profession and works for agencies. Corsi was once involved with Kerry Katona, formerly of Atomic Kitten. Andy Love had a brief stint on Pop Idol , before left out of the final fifty potential contestants. Ian Mason had earlier quit the group, deciding to concentrate on his further education, being replaced by Lichman. Mason briefly played keyboards in Bill Sedgewick's cabaret act '96 Problems'. Youngest member, Toby Campion (born 1981), was only with the band for six months; his parents decided to take him out of the line-up to pursue a solo career. He is now a spoken word artist based in Edinburgh.

Kerry Jayne Elizabeth Kay is an English singer and media personality. She was a member of girl group Atomic Kitten from 1998 until her first departure in 2001 and again from 2012 until her second departure in 2017. Her television work is predominantly in light entertainment and reality shows.

Rose Tattoo is an Australian rock and roll band, now led by Angry Anderson, that was formed in Sydney in 1976. Their sound is hard rock mixed with blues rock influences, with songs including "Bad Boy for Love", "Rock 'n' Roll Outlaw", "Nice Boys", "We Can't Be Beaten" and "Scarred for Life". Their first four albums were produced by Harry Vanda and George Young who also worked with AC/DC. Doves are an alternative rock band from Cheshire, England. The band is composed of twin brothers Jez Williams and Andy Williams, and Jimi Goodwin. Their first career-spanning compilation album The Places Between: The Best of Doves was released in April 2010.

Showaddywaddy are a pop/rock group from Leicester, England. They specialise in revivals of hit songs from the 1950s and early 1960s as well as original material and dress as Teddy Boys. A1 are a British–Norwegian boy band that formed in 1998. The original line-up consists of Paul Marazzi, Christian Ingebrigtsen, Mark Read and Ben Adams. Ingebrigtsen is originally from Oslo, Norway, but the other members originate from London.

"Suffragette City" is a song by David Bowie. Originally from The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars album in 1972, it was later issued as a single in 1976 to promote the Changesonebowie compilation in the UK, with the US single edit of "Stay" on the B-side. China Crisis are an English pop/rock band. They were formed in 1979 in Kirkby, near Liverpool, Merseyside with a core of vocalist/keyboardist Gary Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon. China Crisis were part of a wave of new Liverpool acts in the late 1970s and early 1980s, led by OMD and also including Echo and the Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, A Flock of Seagulls and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

My Life Story are an English pop group formed in London in 1993. The group's success peaked in the mid to late 1990s as part of the Britpop era. Fronted by singer/songwriter Jake Shillingford, the group inherited their name from an earlier group in which Shillingford had appeared. Roger Ashley Mason is an Australian keyboardist who has been a member of new wave groups Models, Absent Friends and Icehouse. He was a session and backing musician for United Kingdom's Gary Numan and for various Australian artists. From the early 1990s he has composed music for television and feature films.
