Northern Star Records

Northern Star Records was a UK based record label, founded by Scott Causer and Andy Oliver in 2005. The label launched in March 2006 with their first release, the double CD compilation album, Psychedelica Vol. 1. [1] The release soon gained cult status and was praised by Billboard for bringing the genre into the mainstream, as the label was increasing viewed as being the leading pioneers of the third wave of psychedelia. [2] In February 2008, Andy Oliver left to pursue his own interests which left Scott Causer to take the label forward. [3] [4]

Psychedelica Vol: 1 featured The Electric Prunes, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Silver Apples, The Fuzztones and The Telescopes, and introduced The Black Angels, The Dolly Rocker Movement, The Lovetones, The Stevenson Ranch Davidians and The Electric Mainline. The series went on to 5 volumes and the label became known for their infamous Northern Star Weekenders, one of which resulted in the 2014 Live album 'Live Revolution.'

Bands who signed to Northern Star Records include The Nova Saints, Youngteam, The Lost Rivers, The Electric Mainline, The Early Morning Satellites and The Carousels. [5]

Northern Star announced its closure[ citation needed ] shortly after the 10 Years of Psychedelica Show at the Brixton Windmill in 2016 headlined by Youngteam and featuring performances from Soundwire, Culkin, 93MillionMilesFromTheSun, Kontakte, Satsangi and the debut show from The Cult of Free Love. Jill Heather Scott is an American singer, songwriter, model, poet and actress. Her 2000 debut album, Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds Vol. 1, went platinum, and the follow-ups Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 (2004) and The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 (2007) both achieved gold status.

Global Underground

Global Underground is a British record label and compilation series founded in 1996 by Andy Horsfield and James Todd. The label symbolised the international explosion of dance music during the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s and first manifesto for high-end DJs such as Tony De Vit, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Darren Emerson, James Lavelle, Carl Cox, and Solomun.

Sister Bliss British DJ, musician and songwriter

Ayalah Deborah Bentovim, better known by her stage name Sister Bliss, is a British keyboardist, record producer, DJ and songwriter. In the studio, she is best known for her work with Rollo Armstrong as one half of the production duo Rollo & Sister Bliss, and particularly as part of Faithless.

The Fridge (nightclub) Former nightclub in South London, England

The Fridge was a nightclub in the Brixton area of South London, England, founded, in 1981, by Andrew Czezowski and Susan Carrington, who had run the Roxy during punk music's heyday in 1977. The Fridge closed on 17 March 2010 and has no link with Electric Brixton which opened in September 2011 and now occupies the building.

Rodney Scott Carrington is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and country music artist and songwriter. He has released six major-label studio albums and a greatest hits package, on Mercury Records and Capitol Records. His comedy act typically combines stand-up comedy and original songs. Most of his songs are performed in a neotraditional country style, with Carrington handling lead vocals and guitar. Carrington has also starred in the ABC sitcom Rodney and in the 2008 film Beer for My Horses.

Utopia (band) American rock band

Utopia was an American rock band formed in 1973 by Todd Rundgren. During its first three years, the group was a progressive rock band with a somewhat fluid membership known as Todd Rundgren's Utopia. Most of the members in this early incarnation also played on Rundgren's solo albums of the period up to 1975. By 1976, the group was known simply as Utopia and featured a stable quartet of Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell and John "Willie" Wilcox. This version of the group gradually abandoned progressive rock for more straightforward rock and pop.

Jessamine was an American post-rock band, that recorded three albums for Kranky records between 1994 and 1998, and a number of singles for other record labels. These singles were later collected by the band on a self-released compilation album in 1997 entitled Another Fictionalized History.

Going Blank Again is the second studio album by English rock band Ride, released on 9 March 1992 on Creation Records. It was produced by Alan Moulder, and peaked at No. 5 in the UK Albums Chart. Black Midi are an English rock band from London, formed in 2017 by Geordie Greep, Cameron Picton, Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin and Morgan Simpson (drums). The band is currently a trio consisting of Greep, Picton and Simpson, with Seth Evans and Kaidi Akinnibi (saxophone) being frequent collaborators in both studio and live performances since 2020.

JackBoys is a compilation album by JackBoys and American rapper Travis Scott. JackBoys is a collective and group of American rappers signed to Scott's Cactus Jack Records, which is made up of Scott himself, Sheck Wes, Don Toliver, Luxury Tax 50, and Scott's DJ Chase B. The album was released on December 27, 2019. It features guest appearances from Rosalía, Lil Baby, Quavo and Offset from the hip hop trio Migos, Young Thug, and Pop Smoke. Upon debut, JackBoys opened atop the US Billboard 200 on January 11, 2020, becoming the first number one album of the 2020s. This is Scott's third album to debut atop the chart since his third studio album, Astroworld (2018).

Somewherecold Records American record label

Somewherecold Records is an American independent record label established in late 2004 by Jason T. Lamoreaux. The record company was founded in Lexington, Kentucky, but is currently headquartered in Shelbyville, Kentucky. It releases ambient, shoegaze, dream pop, slowcore, post-rock, space rock and drone music, with an international roster of artists spanning from the early 2000s to the present. Somewherecold Records has released music on vinyl records, compact discs, compact cassettes and digital audio formats, with global distribution through The Business.
