Northside Swim Center is a swimming pool complex located in San Antonio, Texas, United States. The center opened in 2013 and serves the local community as well as hosting larger, national, and international scale events. In addition to outdoor swimming and diving facilities, the complex includes indoor swimming facilities in the Northside Independent School District (NISD) Natatorium.

Outdoor facilities

Northside Swim Center was built around the pre-existing Northside Independent School District (NISD) Natatorium, which is an indoor facility, and opened in 2013. [1] [2] Funding for outdoor facilities came from a school bond passed in 2008. [3] An Olympic-sized swimming pool, 50-meters long and 25-meters wide, is flanked by covered seating areas running parallel to the lengths of the pool. [2] [4] Automated electronic timing systems are wired to a large jumbotron-style screen to make timed results viewable during events. [1] [2] Behind the seating area on one side of the competition pool is a 25-metre long diving well equipped for springboard and platform diving and used for some swimming competitions as a warm-up and cool-down pool. [1] [2] [5] Locker rooms have a 1,200 athlete capacity. [1] [2] Outdoor and natatorium facilities occupy 202,000 square feet. [5]

NISD Natatorium

The NISD Natatorium preceded the Northside Swim Center outdoor facilities, opening to the public in 2006 and was funded by a local school bond. [5] [6] The Natatorium was later incorporated into the Northside Swim Center when the center opened in 2013, though it retains the name NISD Natatorium. A 50-meter long, 25-yard wide pool is housed indoors and does not accommodate diving activities, neither springboard nor platform diving, as the pool ranges from four to seven feet deep. [6]

Lydia Alice Jacoby is an American competitive swimmer. She was the first Alaskan to qualify for an Olympic Games in swimming, competing at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021, where she won the gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:04.95, which was the fastest time ever achieved by a female American swimmer in the event in the 17–18 age group. Later in the year, she was the overall highest scoring female American competitor at the 2021 FINA Swimming World Cup. In 2022, she became the fastest female American swimmer in history in the 100-yard breaststroke for the 17–18 age group with a time of 57.54 seconds. She formerly was a songwriter, lead vocalist, and double bass player for the Snow River String Band.

Drew Kibler is an American competition swimmer specializing in freestyle events. He is a world record holder in the short course 4×200 meter freestyle relay and an American record holder in the 4×200 yard freestyle relay. He won a gold medal in the 4×200 meter freestyle relay each at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships and the 2022 World Short Course Championships and placed fourth in the event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. In the 200 meter freestyle, he took fourth-place at both the 2022 World Aquatics Championships and the 2022 World Short Course Championships. He is also a three-time NCAA champion in the 4×200 yard freestyle relay, winning NCAA titles in the event in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

Natalie Anisha Hinds is an American professional swimmer specializing in freestyle and butterfly events. She made her international championships debut at 27 years of age, winning a bronze medal in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics, swimming in both the prelims and the final. In her first final at a World Championships in an individual event, she placed eighth in the 100 meter freestyle at the 2022 World Short Course Championships when she was 29 years old. At the 2022 US National Championships, she won the national title in the 100 meter freestyle. Shaine Casas is an American professional swimmer. He is an Americas record holder in the short course 4×50 meter medley relay, swimming the butterfly leg of the relay. At the 2021 World Short Course Championships, he won the gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke, a silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke, and placed seventh in the 50-meter backstroke. In 2022, at the year's World Aquatics Championships, he won the bronze medal in the 200-metre backstroke. Later in the year, at the 2022 World Short Course Championships, he won the silver medal in the 200-metre backstroke and placed fourth in the finals of the 100-meter individual medley and 200-meter individual medley.

David Avery Curtiss is an American professional swimmer. At the 2019 World Junior Championships, he won the silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle. In 2021, he set a new American high school record in the 50-yard freestyle for all high school swimming, public and private, in the United States. At the 2022 World Short Course Championships, he competed in three freestyle relay events and the 50-meter freestyle, winning a bronze medal in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay.

Coleman Stewart is an American swimmer. He is the current world record holder in the short course 100 meter backstroke. At the 2019 World University Games, he won a gold medal as part of the 4×100 metre medley relay, swimming backstroke in the prelims heats, and a bronze medal in the 100 meter butterfly. He competes in the International Swimming League as part of the Cali Condors.

The Canham Natatorium is a swimming facility on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The facility is used by the Michigan Wolverines swimming and diving and women's water polo teams.

The 2020 Toyota U.S. Open Swimming Championships were contested from November 12 to 14, 2020 in a virtual competition format at nine locations in the United States with medalists determined from the merged results across all nine locations. Competition was conducted in long course (50-meter) pools.
