The Great Sacandaga Lake is a large lake situated in the Adirondack Park in northern New York in the United States. The lake has a surface area of about 41.7 square miles (108 km2) at capacity, and the length is about 29 miles (47 km). The word Sacandaga means "Land of the Waving Grass" in the local native language. The lake is located in the northern parts of Fulton County and Saratoga County near the south border of the Adirondack Park. A small part of it also extends northward into southern Hamilton County. The broader, south end of the lake is northeast of the City of Johnstown and the City of Gloversville. Great Sacandaga Lake is a reservoir created by damming the Sacandaga River. The primary purpose for the creation of the reservoir was to control flooding on the Hudson River and the Sacandaga River, floods which had a historically significant impact on the surrounding communities.
Salmon Lake is located west of Brandreth, New York. The outlet of the lake flows through an unnamed creek into Trout Pond. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, brown trout, sunfish, black bullhead, yellow perch, and lake trout. Access by hiking a trail from Trout Pond off Stillwater Reservoir. No motors are allowed on Salmon Lake.
Long Pond is located by Oswegatchie Camp, New York. Fish species present in the lake are splake, white sucker, and black bullhead. There is a state owned beach launch on Prentice Road, 4 miles northwest of Croghan. There is a 10 horsepower motor limit.
Horseshoe Pond is located by Gale, New York. The outlet creek flows north into Long Pond, then continues into Catamount Pond. Fish species present in the lake are white sucker, smallmouth bass, brook trout, rock bass, yellow perch, and black bullhead. Access on north and west shore off Massawepie Road. Permit is required from June to August from the Boy Scout camp.
Wolf Pond is located north of Stillwater, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, brown bullhead, and sunfish. There is a trail leading to the lake from Cage Lake on the east shore. No motors are allowed on Wolf Pond.
Clear Lake is located northeast of Stillwater, New York. The outflow creek flows into Witchhopple Lake. Fish species present in the lake are brown bullhead, and brook trout. Access via trail off Red Horse Trail and Salmon Lake Trail on the south shore. No motors are allowed on Clear Lake.
Trout Pond is a lake located south of Horseshoe, New York. Fish species present in the lake are white sucker, yellow perch, large mouth bass, Northern pike and black bullhead. Access by trail from southwest of County Route 10.
Little Trout Pond is a lake located south of Horseshoe, New York. Fish species present in the lake are white sucker, lake trout, yellow perch, brook trout, and black bullhead. Access by bushwhack trail from Trout Pond on southeast shore.
Chub Lake is a lake located west of Raquette Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are black bullhead, and brook trout. There is trail access on the south and west shore from the north shore of Constable Pond. No motors are allowed on Chub Lake.
Mays Pond is a lake located west of Raquette Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are black bullhead, and sunfish. There is trail access on the east shore. The west shore is privately owned. No motors are allowed on this pond.
Cranberry Pond is located northwest of Raquette Lake, New York. Fish species present in the pond are brook trout, brown trout, white sucker, sunfish and black bullhead. There is access by trail from Brown Tract Road. No motors are allowed on the pond.
Pelcher Pond is located west of Raquette Lake, New York. The outlet creek flows into Shallow Lake. Fish species present in the pond are brook trout and sunfish. There is access by trail from Shallow Lake. No motors are allowed on the pond.
Cascade Pond is a small lake located south of Blue Mountain Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, and black bullhead. There is access by trail from Lake Durant along the east shore. No motors are allowed on this lake.
Long Pond is a lake located southeast of Sabael, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, white sucker, black bullhead, sunfish, and pickerel. Access to the pond via trail from road on the west shore. No motors are allowed on this pond.
Cedar Lake is located northwest of Sled Harbor, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, black bullhead, and white sucker. There is trail access on the north and west shores from Sled Harbor. There is also trail access to Whitney Lake. No motors are allowed on this lake.
Spruce Lake is located northwest of Piseco, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, and black bullhead. There is trail access on the east shore from the Northville-Placid Trail. No motors are allowed on this lake.
Lizard Pond is located in the Adirondack Mountains southwest of Garnet Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, and black bullhead. There is carry down trail access off Garnet Lake on the southeast shore.
Island Pond is located east of Brant Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, and brown bullhead. There is a carry down trail from Long Pond.
Long Pond is located east of Brant Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, tiger trout, and brown bullhead. There is a carry down trail from Padanaram Road on the south shore.
Bear Pond is a lake located northeast of Stillwater, New York. The outflow creek flows into Middle Branch Oswegatchie River. Fish species present in the lake are brown bullhead, and brook trout. Access via trail off Raven Lake Road on the south shore. No motors are allowed on Bear Pond.
