Norwood Teague is the former athletic director at the University of Minnesota. [1] [2]

Early career

Teague graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) in 1988 with a B.A. in political science and later earned a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University in 1992. [3] [1] At UNC, Teague was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He then worked in the athletics departments at the University of Virginia from 1993 to 1998, Arizona State University from 1999 to 2001, and as the associate athletic director for marketing and promotions at North Carolina from 2001 to 2006. [4] [5] In July 2006, Teague was hired as the athletics director at Virginia Commonwealth University. [6]

University of Minnesota

On April 22, 2012, Teague was announced as the sole finalist to succeed Joel Maturi as the University of Minnesota athletics director. [3] He was hired, pending approval by the board of regents, and introduced at a press conference by President Eric W. Kaler the next day. [7] He took over for Joel Maturi as the Gophers' athletics director on June 18, 2012. [8]

He resigned suddenly on August 7, 2015, admitting sexual harassment incidents involving non-student University employees. [9] He was replaced by Mark Coyle in May 2016. [10]

Both have been members of the Atlantic Coast Conference since 1953, but the Cavaliers and Tar Heels have squared off at least fifteen more times than any other two ACC football programs. Karen Christina Shelton is an American former field hockey player and coach. Shelton served as head coach of the University of North Carolina's field hockey program from 1981 until her retirement in 2022. She was a member of the U.S. National Team from 1977 to 1984 and a starter on the team that won the bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. She attended West Chester State and was a member of four NCAA championship winning teams. Shelton also qualified for the 1980 Olympic team but did not compete due to the Olympic Committee's boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Russia. As consolation, she was one of 461 athletes to receive a Congressional Gold Medal many years later.

Forest Orion "Mick" Mixon III is the former play-by-play radio voice announcer for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. Mixon took this position during the 2005 football season, replacing Bill Rosinski. Previously, he was the color analyst for the Tar Heel Sports Network, working alongside former "Voice of the Tar Heels," play-by-play announcer Woody Durham, beginning in 1989.

Tim Brewster is an American football coach and former player. He is the tight ends coach for Charlotte. He also served as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for the North Carolina Tar Heels football program. He was the head coach of the University of Minnesota from 2007 until he was fired midway through the Golden Gophers' 2010 season. In 2011, Brewster was a sideline analyst for Fox College Football and the 'NFL on Fox with Gus Johnson and Charles Davis.

Joel Maturi is an American university administrator. He is currently an assistant to University of Minnesota president Eric W. Kaler. Maturi was the athletic director at the University of Denver (1996–1998), Miami University (1998–2002), and the University of Minnesota (2002–2012).

Edward Lindell Teague Jr. was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, from 1949 to 1950 and The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, from 1957 to 1965, compiling a career college football coaching record of 53–53–3. He also coached The Citadel Bulldogs men's soccer team from 1972 to 1976. Teague was also the athletic director at Guilford from 1949 to 1951 and The Citadel from 1957 to 1985.

The North Carolina Tar Heels women's soccer team represent the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Atlantic Coast Conference of NCAA Division I soccer.

Shannon Danise Higgins-Cirovski is an American former soccer midfielder who earned 51 caps with the United States between 1987 and 1991. She was a member of the U.S. team at the 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup and is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

The VCU Rams men's soccer team represents Virginia Commonwealth University in all NCAA Division I men's soccer competitions. In 1978, VCU has fielded a varsity men's soccer program. The Rams currently compete in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Roy Griak was a cross country and track and field coach. He was the head cross country and track and field coach at the University of Minnesota from 1963–1996. In 2001, he was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.

Ed McLaughlin is the current director of athletics for Virginia Commonwealth University. He previously served as athletic director for Niagara University from 2006 to 2012, and as an assistant athletic director at American University and Merrimack College prior to his tenure at Niagara. During his tenure at Niagara, he made the decision to eliminate the school's women's ice hockey program in 2012, as part of an effort to re-allocate resources towards starting a women's lacrosse team, per new Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference league rules. McLaughlin graduated from Boston College with a bachelor's degree in 1995, and American University with a master's degree in 2005. McLaughlin was named athletic director at Virginia Commonwealth University on July 24, 2012.

Hendrée E. Jones is a researcher on women's substance abuse disorders and its impact on children. She is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and adjunct professor in the University of North Carolina College of Arts & Sciences Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. Jones is the executive director of the UNC Horizons Program, which is a comprehensive drug treatment program for mothers and their drug-exposed children. She is a consultant for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the United Nations, and the World Health Organization.

Scott Forbes is an American baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels. He played college baseball at Middle Georgia College before transferring in 1994 to North Carolina Wesleyan College where he played for head coach Mike Fox from 1995 to 1997.

Mark Coyle is the 23rd director of athletics at the University of Minnesota, replacing Norwood Teague. He resigned as the athletics director at Syracuse University in May 2016 after spending only 11 months with the Syracuse Orange.
