Nothing Sacred is an Australian thrash metal band formed in the 1980s.
One of the earliest Australian bands to play thrash/speed metal, Nothing Sacred formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1983. Karl Lean, Sham, and Mick Burnham had previously played together in the band Heresy. After losing both of the band's guitarists in 1983, they recruited two new guitarists, aiming for a heavier and more aggressive sound. After much searching, Mark Wooley, and Richard "Buddy" Snape joined the band and several months of rehearsal and songwriting began in earnest. In late 1983 the band played its first gigs which were well received by Melbournes metal community. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response to live shows, and after recording a demo, they recorded their debut EP Deathwish at York Street studios in late 1984. Manufacturing issues led to the EP not being released until early 1985. Released independently, the EP sold modestly well, helped by the band playing a large number of shows around Australia, and resulted in the title track "Deathwish" becoming a classic of Australian metal. An LP was released in 1988, titled Let Us Prey. Despite the songwriting and musicianship on the album, Let Us Prey suffered from poor production quality in comparison to its predecessor.
Before disbanding in 1989, Nothing Sacred's lead guitarist Mark Woolley, bassist Karl Lean and drummer Sham contributed to Hobbs' Angel of Death's early work in the late 1980s. Woolley also appeared on Hobbs' first self-titled album in 1988. Vocalist Mick Burnham later joined short-lived Melbourne band Seizure in 1993.
Although their tenure was short-lived, Nothing Sacred still remains as an underground metal phenomenon in Australia. Songs from the Deathwish EP still get airplay on several Australian metal radio programmes from time to time.
Sacred performed a series 30th anniversary shows in 2012 that were very well received, with Ross Percy (Ion Drive, Little House Godz) joining George Larin on guitar that included a support slot with ex-Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno. Despite the success, the band agreed not continue and returned to retirement.
In 2015, the band decided to re-activate with a lineup of Sham, Karl Lean, George Larin, Ross Percy and new vocalist Chris Stark. A slot on Melbourne's Brewtality Metal Festival received positive reviews before the band embarked on a short tour of Japan which inspired them to continue.
2021 the band released their first full length album NoGods making it a 35 year gap between releases. Ross Percy would be replaced my Stu Bedford on guitar and Chris Stark would be replaced by James Davies on vocals. 3 video's and singles were released prior to the albums release date on Rockshots Records.
March 2023 the band was on a roll and would release the follow up to NoGods, A 6 track EP titled Leviathan. The EP would contain a mixture of new and old re recorded tracks stemming back to their early days.
Although branded as a thrash metal group, Nothing Sacred's music had more of a melodic sound, at times reminiscent of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Vocalist Mick Burnham had a voice that sounded very similar to early Iron Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno, while current singer Chris Stark has often been likened to Bruce Dickinson and Judas Priest's Rob Halford.
Battleaxe is an English heavy metal band from Sunderland. As one of the bands of the new wave of British heavy metal scene, they started out with the name Warrior and morphed into Battleaxe in early 1981. The band consisted of Dave King (vocals), Brian Smith (bass), Steve Hardy (guitar), and Ian Thompson (drums). After playing around the area and honing their craft, they entered the recording studio to make a demo called "Burn This Town". In doing so, they garnered the attention of Roadrunner Records, and the result was their first album, Burn This Town.
Mortification is an Australian Christian extreme metal band which was formed in 1987 as a heavy metal group, Lightforce, by mainstay Steve Rowe on bass guitar and vocals. By 1990, in the Melbourne suburb of Moorabbin, they were renamed as Mortification with the line-up of Rowe, Michael Carlisle on guitar, and Jayson Sherlock on drums. Mortification has released fourteen studio albums, three compilation albums, three extended plays, six live discs, one demo album, one box set, and several videos on major record labels such as Nuclear Blast. As one of the earliest internationally successful Christian death metal bands from Australia, they served as an inspiration for later similar groups.
Discharge are an English hardcore punk band formed in 1977 in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The band is known for influencing several sub-genres of extreme music and their songs have been covered by some of the biggest names in heavy metal and other genres. The musical sub-genre of D-beat is named after Discharge and the band's distinctive drumbeat.

The band released five albums and were the first Australian thrash metal band to tour internationally. According to Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, they were one of "two leading lights... [of] a small, but fervent underground thrash/speed metal scene."
Graham Anthony "Gizz" Butt is a British musician, lead vocalist and lead guitarist for Janus Stark best known for being the live guitarist for the band The Prodigy in the late 1990s. His own band Janus Stark, from the same era, enjoyed a minor hit with the song "Every Little Thing Counts" from the album The Great Adventure Cigar.

Hobbs' Angel of Death were an Australian thrash metal band that began in 1987 in Melbourne, and are one of the first Australian groups to perform in that genre. They released two studio albums, Hobbs' Angel of Death (1988) and Inheritance (1995) before disbanding in 1996. They reformed in 2002 and released a compilation album, Hobbs' Satan's Crusade (2003), and a third album Heaven Bled (2016).
Doomriders is an American stoner/sludge metal band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band has released three albums on Deathwish, Inc. The band's vocalist/guitarist Nate Newton also plays bass in Converge and guitar in Old Man Gloom. Jebb Riley formerly played bass in There Were Wires. Doomriders have toured with Coliseum and Saviours. The band began work on their third studio album in 2011 with an expected release date in 2013 through Deathwish. Doomriders released Grand Blood on October 15, 2013.

Frankenbok is an Australian heavy metal band from Melbourne. The band was founded in 1997 by guitarist Aaron Butler and vocalist Adam 'Hutch' Glynn and have since released three full-length albums and one EP. Frankenbok have toured Australia on numerous occasions, building a strong cult following in their homeland.

S.A. Slayer, originally known as Slayer, was an American heavy metal band formed in San Antonio, Texas, in 1981 by the former Blitzkrieg guitar duo Robert "Bob Dog" Catlin and Art Villarreal, bassist Don Van Stavern, drummer Dave McClain, and vocalist Chris Cronk. The latter was soon replaced by Steve Cooper and the band signed a record deal with local upstart label Rainforest Records and proceeded to record six songs for a proposed EP at B.O.S.S. Studios with producer/engineer duo Bob O'Neill and Rick Shrieves. The Prepare to Die EP was released in 1983 and "Slayer" became one of the top metal draws of the Texas scene. The band changed their name to S.A. Slayer following a cease and desist lawsuit from founder of Metal Blade Records, Brian Slagel, on behalf of thrash metal legends Slayer.
Taramis was an Australian heavy metal group, which began as Prowler in 1983. Initially they played covers of other artists' work; in 1985 they developed more original material and changed their name. By that time their line-up was Dave Browne on drums, Shane "Joel" Southby on lead vocals, Danny Komorr on bass guitar, and Craig Robertson on lead guitar. Their debut album, Queen of Thieves, was released in August 1987. A second album followed in April 1992, Stretch of the Imagination, and the group supported Brazilian band Sepultura at their Melbourne concert in July. Taramis disbanded early in 1993. Australian rock music historian Ian McFarlane noted they were "one of the first local groups to play a brand of 'progressive' heavy metal in the style of overseas acts ... Taramis infused its esoteric music with an epic, mystical feel. Man-mountain frontman Joel Southby also possessed a booming rock voice which added an edge to the band's billowing, blustering song arrangements".
Victims were a Swedish hardcore punk band, originally hailing from Nyköping, at the end of their career they were based in Stockholm. The final line-up consisted of lead vocalist and bass player Johan Eriksson, drummer Andy Henriksson, guitar player, vocalist Jon Lindqvist and guitar player Gareth Smith.
