Nse Essien (born March 23, 1970) is a Nigerian politician and manager at sports administrator. He is a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. Nse Essien is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Whip. He graduated with a second class upper Division from the University of Calabar, Nigeria in 1984 where he obtained his first degree in Geology. He later joined University of Uyo and Army School.

Essien was re-elected to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in the 2019 general elections to represent the Onna State Constituency. [3] Essien also served as the deputy chief whip, [3] and a House Committee Chairman on Security, Youth and Sports. [4] [5]
In 2022, he was appointed a Patron of the Nigeria Football Academies Championship. [5]
He established the Carabana Football Academy, which provides opportunities for people under the age of 18 who are interested in football. [6] He has been key in liberating over 189 inmates withering away from the Nigerian Correctional Service by paying their bails. His remarkable acts of benevolence came to light primarily during the 2024 Yuletide when he paid fines for 19 youths for their offenses [7] [8] [9] In 2023, he fulfilled a $3,000 pledge to the Flying Eagles following their win over Argentina. In 2023, the Russian football club FDC Vista recognized him for his contributions to sports and youth development in Nigeria. [10] He was awarded Sports Icon of the Year alongside Kunle Soname. [11]
