Ntombi Valencia Khumalo is a South African politician and a member of the National Assembly of South Africa since 2021. She is a member of the Democratic Alliance.
Khumalo holds a master's degree in somatology. She had worked in the somatology industry for more than a decade. She worked as the head therapist at Matispa from 2007 to 2008,when she resigned to become a lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. Khumalo later obtained a doctorate in health professions education. She has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented local and international conventions as well. [2] [3]
In 2016,Khumalo was elected as a DA councillor in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. Herman Mashaba of the DA was elected mayor. [4] He later announced the composition of his mayoral committee,in which he appointed Khumalo as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Corporate and Shared Services. [5] Khumalo served in the Mayoral Committee until Mashaba resigned as mayor in November 2019 and the DA subsequently lost control of the metro. [6]
On 18 March 2020,Khumalo was appointed as the Shadow Member of the Mayoral Committee (SMMC) for Economic Development by DA Caucus leader,Leah Knott. [7]
In 2019,Khumalo stood for election to the South African National Assembly as 63rd on the DA's regional list and 196th on the party's national list. [8] Due to the DA's electoral performance,she was not elected to parliament. [9]
Gauteng DA MP Cameron Mackenzie died from COVID-19 complications in July 2021. On 9 September 2021,the DA appointed Khumalo to take up his seat in the National Assembly. [10] She was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on 10 November 2021 by National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula. [11]
The National Assembly is the directly elected house of the Parliament of South Africa,located in Cape Town,Western Cape. It consists of four hundred members who are elected every five years using a party-list proportional representation system where half of the members are elected proportionally from nine provincial lists and the remaining half from national lists so as to restore proportionality.
Nosiviwe Noluthando Mapisa-Nqakula is a South African politician who currently serves as the Speaker of the National Assembly as of 19 August 2021. She has previously held the office of Minister of Defence and Military Veterans from June 2012 to August 2021. She was also the Minister of Home Affairs from 2004 to 2009 and Minister of Correctional Services from 2009 to 2012.

Herman Samtseu Philip Mashaba is a South African politician,entrepreneur and the current president of ActionSA,a party he launched on 29 August 2020. He served as the Mayor of Johannesburg from 2016 to 2019. He is the founder of the hair product company Black Like Me. He is famous in South Africa for his background:he grew up struggling against poverty and the apartheid government to open his own hair business,which became the biggest hair brand in South Africa,making him a millionaire. He publicly backed Mmusi Maimane in the Democratic Alliance leadership race. He wrote the autobiography Black Like You and recently he wrote his new memoir "The accidental mayor". Mashaba is a libertarian and "capitalist crusader" whose highest value is "individual freedom."
Bongani Thomas Bongo is a South African politician,whose ANC membership is currently suspended along with the party's secretary-general Ace Magashule. Bongo is the former Minister of State Security,a position to which he was appointed on 17 October 2017 by President Jacob Zuma until he was relieved from the post on 28 February 2018. He was the only appointment that had not been a cabinet minister before. He is also the elected President of the University of Limpopo's Alumni and Convocation Association. As the Minister of State Security,Bongo headed the State Security Agency of South Africa.
The 2021 South African municipal elections were held on 1 November 2021,to elect councils for all district,metropolitan and local municipalities in each of the country's nine provinces. It is the sixth municipal election held in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994,held every five years. The previous municipal elections were held in 2016. On 21 April 2021,President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the elections will be held on Wednesday,27 October 2021. It had been recommend by Dikgang Moseneke to delay the municipal elections until 2022. The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) requested the Constitutional Court to support the date postponement. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supported the date postponement while the Democratic Alliance (DA) was against the postponement of the date. The Constitutional Court dismissed the application to postpone the date until 2022,ruling that they had to take place between 27 October and 1 November. On 9 September 2021,the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs,Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma announced that the elections would be held on 1 November.
Moloantoa Geoffrey Makhubo was a South African politician who served as the Mayor of Johannesburg from December 2019 until his death from COVID-19 in July 2021. He was a member of the African National Congress and the party's regional chair. During the administration of Parks Tau,he served as the MMC for Finance.

A member of the African National Congress,he previously served as the member of the mayoral committee (MMC) for environment and infrastructure services from December 2019 to September 2021. Moerane was the regional treasurer of the ANC in Johannesburg.
