Nurul Haque Bhuiyan was a Bengali activist.

Career

Bhuiyan was a professor of Department of Chemistry and Applied Chemistry at the University of Dhaka during 1946–1994. He was a senior leader of the Tamaddun Majlish and the first convener of the Rastrabhasa Sangram Parishad during the Language Movement. He was the founder Provost of Sir A F Rahman Hall of the University of Dhaka. He was the first convenor of Language Movement during October 1947 - February 1948. [1]

He was a faculty member at the Department of Law, University of Rajshahi and University of Dhaka. Besides, being a language activist, advocate of the Bengali language, he wrote extensively and published eight books on the subject. He played a significant role to implement Bengali in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He wrote Jathashabdo (1974), the first thesaurus in the Bengali language.

Bengali literature denotes the body of writings in the Bengali language and which covers Old Bengali, Middle- Bengali and Modern Bengali with the changes through the passage of time and dynastic patronization or non-patronization. Bengali has developed over the course of roughly 1,300 years. If the emergence of the Bengali literature supposes to date back to roughly 650 AD, the development of Bengali literature claims to be 1600 years old. The earliest extant work in Bengali literature is the Charyapada, a collection of Buddhist mystic songs in Old Bengali dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries. The timeline of Bengali literature is divided into three periods: ancient (650–1200), medieval (1200–1800) and modern. Medieval Bengali literature consists of various poetic genres, including Hindu religious scriptures, Islamic epics, Vaishnava texts, translations of Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit texts, and secular texts by Muslim poets. Novels were introduced in the mid-19th century. Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore is the best known figure of Bengali literature to the world. Kazi Nazrul Islam, notable for his activism and anti-British literature, was described as the Rebel Poet and is now recognised as the National poet of Bangladesh.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mohammad Shamsuzzoha</span>

Mohammad Shamsuzzoha was a Bengali writer, professor and proctor at Rajshahi University. Shamsuzzoha was the first university teacher in erstwhile East Pakistan who was killed by the Pakistani Military forces at the eve of 1969 revolution movement of East Pakistan, which ultimately became the Bangladesh Liberation War. In 2008, he was awarded the Independence Day Award.

Abu Jafar Shamsuddin was a Bangladeshi writer. He was the recipient of Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1968 and Ekushey Padak in 1983.

Dhakaiya Kutti dialect, also known as Old Dhakaiya Bengali or simply Dhakaiya, is a Bengali dialect, spoken by the Dhakaiya Kuttis of Old Dhaka city in Bangladesh. This dialect is fully mutually intelligible with Standard Bengali but has some differences in vocabulary. It is not used in formal settings anymore although historically the local Bais and Bara panchayets are said to have used it sometimes.

Qamrul Hassan Bhuiyan was a Bangladeshi major in the Bangladesh Army. He was a freedom fighter, liberation war researcher and writer. He was the founder chairman of the Center for Liberation War Studies. He received Bangla Academy Award in the year 2018 for his contribution to the liberation war literature.

Fagun Haway is a Bangladeshi historical drama film based on the novel Bou Kotha Kou by Tito Rahman. This movie is based on the Bengali language movement during 1952 in East Pakistan. This was the sixth film directed by Tauquir Ahmed simultaneously released in February 2019 at 52 cinema halls across the country.
