The Nyabugogo River is a river in Rwanda, Africa. The river's source is Lake Muhazi, and then it flows into the Nyabarongo River as a tributary. The river forms the northern border between the Northern and Kigali Provinces of Rwanda, in the southern portion of the Nile Basin. The river has a total length of 59 kilometres (37 mi) and a catchment area of 1,650 square kilometres (640 square miles). [1] Is source comes from Lake Muhazi, and then goes west through Kigali, then joining the Nyabarongo River as its mouth. [2]
In 2013, the river flooded Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, causing millions of francs in damages, and the deaths of four people in a car. [3]
