Ruea was born and raised in Kenya due to the Second Sudanese Civil War. Around the ages of 9 and 10, she decided she wanted to become a model one day. [3]
Ruea was discovered by a local agency called Beth Models. [3] Her first ever cover appearance was for British Vogue photographed by Rafael Pavarotti, featuring all African models including Anok Yai, Adut Akech, Maty Fall Diba, and Akon Changkou. [3] [2] Ruea has walked the runway for Saint Laurent, Moschino, Valentino, Mugler, Schiaparelli, Hermès, Balmain, Givenchy, and Chloé. [4] She also walked in the Vogue World fashion show with an ensemble cast of both models and celebrities.
