Nyaru is a settlement in Kenya's Rift Valley Province. It is located in Elgeyo-Marakwet County's Keiyo South Constituency, precisely 45.6 km from Eldoret Town on the Eldoret- Eldama Ravine road. At the moment, Nyaru has the head offices of Keiyo South Constituency CDF (Constituency Development Fund).

Rift Valley Province of Kenya, bordering Uganda, was one of Kenya's eight provinces, before the Kenyan general election, 2013. Rift Valley Province was the largest and one of the most economically important provinces in Kenya. It was dominated by the Kenya Rift Valley which passes through it and gives the province its name. According to the 2009 Census, the former province covered an area of 182,505.1 square kilometres and would have had a population of 10,006,805, making it the largest and most populous province in the country. The bulk of the provincial population inhabited a strip between former Nairobi and Nyanza Province. The capital was the town of Nakuru.

Elgeyo-Marakwet County is one of Kenya's 47 counties. Elgeyo Marakwet County is located in the former Rift Valley Province. Its capital and largest town is Iten. It borders the counties of West Pokot to the north, Baringo County to the east, southeast and south, Uasin Gishu to the southwest and west, and Trans Nzoia to the northwest.

The Elgeyo are an ethnic group that is part the larger Kalenjin ethnic group of Nilotic origin. They live near Eldoret, Kenya in the highlands of the former Keiyo District now part of the larger Elgeyo Marakwet County. The Elgeyo together with Kipsigis, Marakwet, Pokot, Sabaot, Tugen and Nandi are in some literature referred to as Highland Nilotes. The Elgeyo like other Highland Nilotes, subsist mainly on grain, milk, blood and meat provided by their cattle, sheep and goats.

Keiyo District is a defunct administrative district in the former Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The district was formed in 1994, when Elgeyo/Marakwet-District was split into two - the other half was Marakwet District. Keiyo District had a population of 143.865. Its capital was located in the Iten/Tambach town. In 2010, the districts were re-joined as Elgeyo-Marakwet County.

It is located near the edge of the Great Rift Valley just to the southeast of the village of Chepkorio. Administratively, it is a location in Ainabkoi division of Uasin Gishu District. Its local authority is Wareng County Council and constituency is Ainabkoi Constituency. Although geographically, Kaptagat lies both on the Uasin Gishu district and Keiyo Districts. One of the nearest towns is Kimwarer, located 10 kilometers east of Kapatagat.

Sub-Counties of Kenya

Sub-counties are the decentralised units through which county governments of Kenya will provide functions and services. Except for the parts which fall under urban areas, sub-counties will coincide with the constituencies created under article 89 of the Constitution of Kenya. Sub-counties will be headed by a sub-county administrator, appointed by a County Public Service Board.
