The Oakland Golden Grizzlies women's basketball team represents Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, United States. The school's team competes in the Horizon League and plays their home games at the OU Credit Union O'rena. [2]
The Golden Grizzlies, then called the Pioneers, began play in 1974. As of the end of the 2020-2021 season, they have an all-time record of 818–517. During their time in Division II (playing in the GLIAC), they qualified for the respective Tournament in 1982, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997. They finished as regular season champion in the GLIAC in 1982, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1994, with a Division title in 1997.
In 1998, the team joined the Mid-Continent Conference (now known as the Summit League) in Division I and changed their name to the Golden Grizzlies. They have qualified for the NCAA tournament twice, in 2002 and 2006, both times after winning the Summit League tournament. Both times they lost in the first round, losing 63–38 to Vanderbilt and 68–45 to Ohio State, respectively. [3]
In 2013, the Golden Grizzlies left the Summit League and joined the Horizon League.
The Golden Grizzlies, then known as the Pioneers, had a 10–10 record in eight NCAA Tournament appearances at the Division II level.

The Horizon League is a collegiate athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. Headquartered in Indianapolis, the league's eleven member schools are located in and near the Great Lakes region and in part of the Southern United States.
The California Golden Bears are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, Berkeley. Greg Charles Kampe is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Oakland University. He guided the Golden Grizzlies to their first NCAA Division I tournament in 2005, winning in the First Four round.

This was the Golden Grizzlies last year as a member of The Summit League as they joined the Horizon League in the 2013–14 season.

The Golden Grizzlies, led by 31st year head coach Greg Kampe, played their home games at the Athletics Center O'rena. This was Oakland's second season in the Horizon League. They finished the season 16–17, 11–5 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for third place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League tournament to UIC. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they lost in the first round to Eastern Illinois.

The Golden Grizzlies were led by 32nd year head coach Greg Kampe and played their home games at the Athletics Center O'rena. They finished the season 23–12, 13–5 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for second place. They lost in the semifinals of the Horizon League tournament to Wright State. They were invited to the inaugural Vegas 16 where they defeated Towson and East Tennessee State to advance to the championship game where they lost to Old Dominion.

They finished the season 25–9, 14–4 in Horizon League play to finish in a share for the Horizon League regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed, they were upset in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League tournament by Youngstown State. As a conference champion and No. 1 seed who failed to win their conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Clemson in the first round to advance to the second round where they lost to Richmond.
