The Oakville Rock are Senior "A" box lacrosse team from Oakville, Ontario. They play in the Major Series Lacrosse league where under the current format, they compete in 20 regular season games (10 at home) from May through July and playoffs beginning in August and ending with the Mann Cup in September. The Rock play their home games at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville.

History

Formerly the Ajax-Pickering Rock¸ the team began competition in 2003 in the Senior "B" loop. Within 3 years of their founding, the Ajax Rock finished first in the OLA Senior "B" League and reached the finals against the Owen Sound Woodsmen. In 2009 the Rock were promoted to the Senior "A" loop and would compete in the 2010 season. [1]

The Rock's first MSL game was at home against the Brooklin Redmen on Sunday May 30, 2010. They would end up losing their first game their first game 11-7 with Defenseman Brandon Turner scoring their first goal 44 seconds into the first period. [2] Their first win would come on Monday June 21 in Brooklin, winning 10-7. [3] They would finish the 2010 campaign with a 3-13-0 record [4] and would be swept by the Six Nations Chiefs in the first round of the playoffs. [5]

In 2013, owner Rob Roche sought approval for the team to relocate from Ajax to Oakville sighting tiny crowds and a lack of competitiveness as key reasons for being unable to secure bigger talent to the club. Moving to the newly constructed Toronto Rock Athletic Centre and adding Toronto Rock GM Terry Sanderson seemed to be a logical choice. MSL and the OLA approved the move and the team relocated West of Toronto.

Adam Jones is a professional Canadian lacrosse player who plays for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League. In 2013 he was named the sixteenth best indoor lacrosse player in the world by Ilindoor magazine.

The 2015 Major League Lacrosse season was the 16th season of FIL-sanctioned lacrosse in the United States and Canada, the 16th with a national first-division league, and the 15th season of Major League Lacrosse. The season featured 8 total clubs. The regular season was held from April 12 through July 25, with the semifinals on August 1 and the championship game on August 8 in Kennesaw, Georgia. Glen Bryan is a professional lacrosse player for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League and the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Orangeville, Ontario, Bryan began his amateur career with the Orangeville Jr B Northmen, and worked his way up to the Jr A Northmen, with whom he won back-to-back Minto Cups in 2008 and 2009. He made his MSL debut in 2010 with the Brooklin Redmen, was drafted 5th overall by the Redmen in the 2011 MSL draft, and joined the Kodiaks in 2012. Bryan played collegiality at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he studied accounting.

The 2019 National Lacrosse League season, formally known as the 2018–2019 season, is the 33rd in the history of the NLL. It was originally scheduled to begin on December 1, 2018 and ending with the NLL final in late spring of 2019. This season is the inaugural season for the expansion teams San Diego Seals and Philadelphia Wings. This is also the final season for the Rochester Knighthawks under owner Curt Styres, as the team's operations are being relocated to Halifax for the 2019–20 season while Pegula Sports and Entertainment takes over the Knighthawks moniker with a new expansion team.

Ethan O'Connor is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. Born in Milton, Ontario, O'Connor began his minor lacrosse career playing for the Milton Mavericks. He was drafted in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse Draft to the Burlington Chiefs where was named a two time team captain and earned First Team All League honors for his final season. During his junior career, O'Connor also played for the Oakville Buzz and Halton Hills Bulldogs of the OLA Junior B Lacrosse League. O'Connor was drafted in the first round of the 2013 NLL Entry Draft by the Toronto Rock, playing in all but one game his rookie season. After one season with the Rock, he was traded to the Minnesota Swarm where he was a contributing member of their 2017 NLL Championship winning team. Prior to the 2018-19 season, O'Connor was traded to his current team, the Bandits. O'Connor also played division one lacrosse for Hobart College.
