Obinna Onwubuariri is a Nigerian politician. He was a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Isiala Mbano/Okigwe/Onuimo Constituency of Imo State in the 8th National Assembly. [1]

Early life and education

Obinna was born on June 17, 1978. He is from Isiala Mbano Local Government Area. He completed his primary education at Central School, Umunachi, Osuh, in Isiala Mbano. He attended Aquinas Secondary School, Osuh, and later transferred to Boy’s Secondary School, New Owerri. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Business Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). [2] [3]

Political career

In 2015, Obinna was elected to the Nigerian House of Representatives to represent the Isiala Mbano/Okigwe/Onuimo Constituency, running under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In 2019, Obinna was sacked by a National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal after a petition by Miriam Onuoha of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The petition claimed there was over-voting, tampering with results, and reduction of Onuoha’s votes, which led to the election being nullified. [4] [5] [6]

Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu known as Sam Daddy is a Nigerian business executive and politician, and served as the national secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from November 2021, until his removal from Office by the Court of Appeal Nigeria on 20th December 2024, which affirmed his replacement with Rt. Hon. S. K. E. Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary of PDP. He served as a senator in the 8th Nigeria National Assembly representing Imo East Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019 and sponsored the bill for the establishment of South East Development Commission passed by the 8th Senate but was vetoed by President Buhari. Miriam Odinaka Onuoha is a politician of the All Progressives Congress from Imo State, Nigeria. She is a member of the House of Representatives of Nigeria from Okigwe North federal constituency. She won re-election into the federal house of representatives in January 2020. Obinna Onwubuariri of the PDP was declared winner for the 2019 election, but the national assembly election petition tribunal in Owerri in September 2019, sacked Obinna Onwubuariri, and ordered a fresh election for January 2020. She won re-election after an election petition tribunal sitting in August 2020 upheld her victory in the January 2020 elections.

The 2019 Imo State gubernatorial election in Nigeria occurred on 9 March 2019. PDP's Emeka Ihedioha polled 38.29% of the total votes, defeating AA's Uche Nwosu who got 26.66% of popular votes, and several minor party candidates. Out of 27 LGAs, Ihedioha won in 11, while Nwosu won in 10.
