The Officers Club, Dhaka is a government high officals recreation club in Dhaka, Bangladesh. [1] Mesbah Uddin, the then additional secretary of the Local Government Division, was elected as general secretary of the club in 2019 with the term ending in 2021. [2] The club has been described as being "exclusive". [3]

History

The club was founded in 1967. The club membership eligibility is restricted to government high officials (grade-5 and above). The club is managed by an elected executive committee. [4] [5] The committee is elected for a term of two years. [6]

On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. Bailey Road is a well-known thoroughfare and an upscale area in Ramna, Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is one of the two municipal corporations in Dhaka created when the former Dhaka City Corporation was divided into two by the Local Government Amendment Bill 2011 on 29 November 2011, passed in the Parliament of Bangladesh, following the President's approval. Dhaka South has a long history, including that of European arrival and colonization. The area was initially 45 km2, but expanded in 2017 to 109.2 km2 and Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) published Population and Housing Census 2022 count at 43,05,063 giving the city a density of 39,409 people per km2.

Obaidul Quader is a Bangladeshi fugitive, at large since 5 August 2024, a member of the Awami League and one of the key perpetrators of the July massacre orchestrated and executed by Sheikh Hasina's toppled regime. He is wanted by the Government of Bangladesh for crimes against humanity during the Student–People's uprising of 2024.

Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, known as AK Abdul Momen, is a Bangladeshi economist, diplomat, and politician who served as minister of foreign affairs from January 2019 to January 2024. He was elected a member of Jatiya Sangsad from the Sylhet-1 constituency at the 2018 general elections.
