Oh My Darling is a 2023 Indian Malayalam-language romantic comedy film directed by Alfred D' Samuel and produced by Manoj Sreekanta under the banner Ash Tree Ventures. The film stars Anikha Surendran and Melvin G Babu, along with Johny Antony, Manju Pillai, Vijayaraghavan, Nandu and Archana Menon.

Contents

The screenplay and dialogue are written by Jineesh K. Joy. The music is composed by Shaan Rahman, while Ansar Shah has been roped in as the cinematographer and Lijo Paul has done the editing. [1] The film was released in theatres on 24 February 2023.

Production

The principal photography started on 17 August 2022. The film noted as debut for director and first film as a protagonist [2] for Anikha Surendran. [3] [4] The first look of the film was released by Mammootty [5] and second look was released on 16 October 2022. [6] Later, Teaser released on 6 February 2023 [7] and trailer released on 12 February 2023 with the film theatrical release date 24 February 2023. [8] [9] South Korean singer Linda Quero croons 'Darling’ song for the film. [10]

Reception

The film was released 24 February 2023 in theatres. A critic from OTTplay gave 2 stars out of 5 and stated that "If you were attracted by the K-drama vibes that Oh My Darling’s trailer and teasers gave off, this movie will be a major letdown." [11] Dhanya K Vilayil critic of Indian Express wrote that "Though 'Oh My Darling' tries to talk about a topic that Malayalam cinema has not talked about yet, even that twist fails to bring the film closer to the audience" and gave 2 out of 5. [12] Critic from Mathrubhumi [13] and ManoramaOnline gave a mixed review. [14]

Nandalal Krishnamoorthy, better known by his stage name Nandu, is an Indian actor primarily working in Malayalam, and a few Hindi and Tamil films. He has been in the industry for more than 30 years and is acclaimed for his performance in Mohanlal's Spirit, directed by Ranjith. He was also seen in many Priyadarsan films. He received SIIMA award for best supporting actor, for the movie Spirit.

Shaji John, professionally credited by his stage name Kalabhavan Shajohn is an Indian actor, director and comedian who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. He started his career as a mimicry artist in Kalabhavan, Kochi. Making his debut in 1999 with My Dear Karadi and having made more than 90 appearances, he received a major breakthrough in his career with Drishyam (2013), in which he played a negative role. He made his directorial debut with Brother's Day starring Prithviraj. As of June 2021, he has starred in more than 130 Malayalam films.

Anikha Surendran, also known as Baby Anikha, is an Indian actress known for her work in the Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu film industries. She acted in Kadha Thudarunnu (2010), Yennai Arindhaal (2015) and Viswasam (2019). She has received awards for acting. She became a lead actress with the Telugu film Butta Bomma (2023), an official remake of the Malayalam film Kappela (2020).
