The Ohio Institute of Photography (OIP) was founded in 1971. In 1977, construction began on the main building. Classes began in the new building, designed specifically for photographic education, the following September. The building was expanded again in 1984.

The school was renamed the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology (OIP&T) in 1991 with the addition of an allied health program. Several other medical, criminal justice, and graphic design related programs were added to the curriculum over the next several years. With the addition of these programs, the school added classroom space in the nearby Point West Business Park. A branch campus called Florida Education Center-Lauderhill was opened in January 2005.

They use typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to create visual compositions. Common uses of graphic design include corporate design, editorial design, wayfinding or environmental design, advertising, web design, communication design, product packaging and signage.

OIP&T was acquired by Kaplan Higher Education and renamed Kaplan College, Dayton campus in 2010. [1]

The school is currently owned by Education Corporation of America and changed its name to Brightwood College in October 2015. [2]

Education Corporation of America, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, was a privately held company that operated proprietary colleges across the United States. Included were three schools with 31 campuses, plus one online school and four affiliated businesses. The schools abruptly announced their closing before next semester, after ECA was denied accreditation on December 4, 2018. Closings began on December 7.

Accreditation

The school is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), which offers accreditation to whole institutions for diverse educational programs. [3] The medical assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. [4]

The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) is a non-profit education corporation that is recognized by the United States Department of Education as an independent and autonomous national accrediting body. ACICS was established in 1912. It accredited 245 institutions of higher education offering undergraduate and graduate diplomas and degrees in both traditional formats and through distance education. ACICS is incorporated in Virginia and operates from offices in Washington, D.C. Concerns about the quality of its accreditation led the U.S. Department of Education to withdraw the accreditor's recognition in 2016 but the decision was remanded to Secretary of Education DeVos in March 2018 for further review. While that review is under way, the organization's accreditation remains valid.

Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs,, is an agency of accreditation for the accredits postsecondary education programs in 28 health science fields.

Ohio Business College is a private for-profit junior college with multiple locations in Ohio. It is owned by Tri-State Educational Systems, Inc. with corporate headquarters located in Middletown, Ohio. Currently, Ohio Business College operates three campuses in Ohio with career education focused around information technology, business administration, allied health, and CDL training.
