Chief Oladipo "Ladi" Jadesimi is a Nigerian oil businessman and founder of the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base, where he serves as the executive chairman.

Education and career

Oladipo Jadesimi completed his secondary school education at King's College, Lagos. He graduated from Oxford University in 1966 with M.A. and L.L.B. degrees in Jurisprudence, and began working as a chartered accountant with Coopers and Lybrand in London. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (F.C.A.). He is a founding partner in Arthur Andersen Nigeria, where he serves as an Independent Financial Consultant, and a major investor in the Niger Delta Oil Company. [1] He was appointed the director of Niger Delta Exploration and Production PLC in 2010 and became Chairman of the Board on June 21, 2016. He served as a non-executive director of First City Monument Bank from 1983 until 2011. [2] Jadesimi is a founder of Lagos Offshore Logistics Base and serves as the executive chairman. [3]

Personal life

Chief Jadesimi is married to Alero Okotie-Eboh, a broadcaster and daughter of Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh. [4] Their daughter, Amy Jadesimi, is the chief executive officer of LADOL. [5] Jadesimi had an affair with the English socialite Suzanna McQuiston while working as an accountant in London in the 1980s. Through this relationship, he fathered Emma Thynn, Marchioness of Bath. [6]

Significant communities of Itsekiris can be found in parts of Edo and Ondo states and in various other Nigerian cities including Lagos, Benin City, Port Harcourt and Abuja. Many people of Itsekiri descent also reside in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. The Itsekiris are closely related to the Yoruba of South Western Nigeria and also close to the Okpe people and Edo peoples. Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh was a Nigerian politician and Minister of Finance during the administration of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. Okotie-Eboh was born to an Itsekiri Chief, Prince Okotie Eboh in Warri Division, a town along the Benin River in Niger Delta. Before his change of name, he was Chief Festus Samuel Edah. He was a National Treasurer of the Nigerian First Republic party, NCNC, he was also a leader of the Federal Parliamentary Party of NCNC, replacing K.O. Mbadiwe.

On May 1st, 2010, a ruptured ExxonMobil pipeline in the state of Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, spilled more than a million gallons into the delta and contributed to the major environmental issues in the Niger Delta. The spill had occurred at an Exxon platform some 20-25 miles offshore which feeds the Qua Iboe oil export terminal. Exxon Mobil declared force majeure on Qua Iboe oil shipments due to the pipeline damage. The leakage in the Qua Iboe oil field discharged about 232 barrels of crude into the Atlantic Ocean contaminating the waters and coastal settlements in the predominantly fishing communities along Akwa Ibom and Cross River.
