Olaf Baloyi is a South African politician and civil servant. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 2001 to 2002,serving the KwaZulu-Natal constituency. Thereafter he was a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 2002 to 2004.
Before entering legislative politics,Baloyi was a deputy director-general in the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. [1] He was not initially elected to the National Assembly in the 1999 general election but he joined during the legislative term;he was sworn in on 1 April 2001 to fill the casual vacancy arising from Buyisiwe Nzimande's resignation. [2] He also headed the IFP's directorate on HIV/AIDS. [1] [3]
In June 2002,the Mail &Guardian reported that Baloyi was likely to be transferred from the National Assembly to the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature;with a floor-crossing window approaching and the IFP in danger of losing its control of the province,it planned to ensure that its provincial caucus was peopled with maximally loyally members. [4] Indeed,in August 2002,Baloyi resigned from the National Assembly and,on 13 August,he was sworn in to the provincial legislature. [1] He left after the 2004 general election.
The Inkatha Freedom Party is a right-wing political party in South Africa. The party has been led by Velenkosini Hlabisa since the party's 2019 National General Conference. Mangosuthu Buthelezi founded the party in 1975 and led it until 2019. The IFP is currently the fourth largest party in the National Assembly of South Africa,in 2014 yielding third place to the Economic Freedom Fighters,formed in 2013. Although registered as a national party,it has had only minor electoral success outside its home province of KwaZulu-Natal.
Prince Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi is a South African politician and Zulu prince who is currently a Member of Parliament and the traditional prime minister to the Zulu royal family. He was Chief Minister of the KwaZulu bantustan during apartheid and founded the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in 1975. He also served as Minister of Home Affairs from 1994 to 2004.
The 35th Inkatha Freedom Party National General Conference was held from 23 to 25 August 2019 to elect the new leadership of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP). The previous elective conference was held in 2012. Party president Mangosuthu Buthelezi had announced his intention to retire after serving in the position for more than forty-four years. He was the party's inaugural president. It was understood that the party's IFP Extended National Council favoured the Leader of the Opposition in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature,Velenkosini Hlabisa,to succeed him as party president. Hlabisa was elected unopposed.
Siphosethu Lindinkosi Ngcobo is a South African politician who has been serving as the Secretary-General of the Inkatha Freedom Party since August 2019. He was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in May 2019. Ngcobo is a former president of the National Teachers Union (NATU).
Narend Singh is a South African politician who is the chief whip of the Inkatha Freedom Party in the National Assembly and the treasurer-general of the party. Prior to joining the National Assembly in 2007,he was a Member of the Executive Council in the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government from 1997 until 2006 and a member of the Senate from 1994 to 1996.
Russel Nsikayezwe Cebekhulu is a South African politician who has been an Inkatha Freedom Party Member of Parliament (MP) since 2015 and previously from 2009 to 2014.
Lionel Percival Hercules Mbeki Mtshali was a South African politician who was Premier of KwaZulu-Natal from 1999 to 2004. He was known for unilaterally ordering the expansion of the province's antiretrovirals programme during the HIV/AIDS epidemic,in defiance of the policy of the national government under President Thabo Mbeki. A founding member and former chairperson of the Inkatha Freedom Party,Mtshali was also national Minister of Arts,Culture,Science and Technology in the government of President Nelson Mandela from 1996 to 1999.
Ndodephethe Bethuel Mthethwa is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature since 2019. He was formerly the Mayor of Jozini Local Municipality.
Belinda Francis Scott is a South African politician who was KwaZulu-Natal's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Finance from 2014 to 2019. She served several terms in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 1994 to 2019,representing the African National Congress (ANC) from 2002 onwards after defecting from both the Democratic Party and the Inkatha Freedom Party. After she left the provincial legislature in 2019,she served as Deputy Mayor of eThekwini from September 2019 until she resigned from politics in February 2021.
Bonga Nkanyiso Mdletshe is a South African politician and traditional leader who represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 1996 to 2014. During this period,he served as Speaker in the legislature from 1998 to 2004. A lawyer by training,he entered politics during apartheid as a member of the government of the former bantustan of KwaZulu.
Keith Muntuwenkosi "Musa" Zondi is a South African politician who served as Deputy Minister of Public Works from 2001 to 2004. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 1999 to 2012. He served as the party's secretary-general and was widely touted as a possible successor to IFP president Mangosuthu Buthelezi before he resigned from his party office and legislative seat in February 2012.
Hendrik Jacobus "Hennie" Bekker is a South African politician who served in the Parliament of South Africa from 1987 to 2009,excepting a brief hiatus in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 2003 to 2004. He represented the National Party (NP) until the end of apartheid in 1994,after which he joined the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).

Inkosi Mhlabunzima Wellington Hlengwa was a South African politician and Zulu traditional leader who served as Deputy Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature until his death in March 2005. Before assuming that office in 2004,Hlengwa represented his political party,the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP),in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2004. He was also the chief of KwaThoyana Tribal Authority near Umbumbulu in eThekwini,KwaZulu-Natal,a position to which he was appointed in 1988.

He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 1995 until his death in 2007. A founding member of the IFP in 1975,he also served on the party's National Council until his death.
Faith Xolile Gasa is a South African politician who was KwaZulu-Natal's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education and Culture from August 2000 to June 2001. She represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in the National Assembly from 1994 to 1995 and in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature from 1995 until her death in 2005. A teacher by profession,she was also a former chairperson of the IFP Women's Brigade.
Ruth Rabinowitz is a South African politician and medical doctor who represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in Parliament from 1994 to 2009. She served in the Senate from 1994 to 1997 as a delegate from KwaZulu-Natal,and thereafter she was a member of the National Assembly.
Lindumusa Bekizitha Gabriel Ndabandaba is a retired South African politician and academic who served in the National Assembly and KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 1999 to 2014. He represented the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) until 2003,when he crossed the floor to the African National Congress (ANC).
