The Old Palmetto Hotel is a historic hotel in Vero Beach, Florida. Located at 1889 Old Dixie Highway the Palmetto Hotel was constructed in 1921 by George W. Gray. The hotel provided a social center for the community as well as a lodging site for the many winter guests who would visit annually. After serving the county offices, it was enlarged in 1926 and in the 1930s it became the Kromhout Apartments, later it became Charlton Apartments, then Skippers Inn, and later in 1989, the Regent Court Apartments. On November 13, 1991, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Sebring station

Sebring is a train station in Sebring, Florida, United States. It is currently served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. Located on East Center Avenue, the station was constructed in 1924 by the Seaboard Air Line Railway. Approaching the transfer of passenger services to Amtrak, the station was used by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad for the Silver Meteor,Silver Star and the Palmland. The latter train ended in 1971, while the Silver Meteor and Silver Star remain operated by Amtrak to the present. Amtrak trains formerly using the station included the Floridian,Palmetto,Sunset Limited and the short-lived intrastate Tampa-Miami Silver Palm service.

Kirby Building United States historic place

The Kirby Building, historically known as the Busch Building, is a 17-story skyscraper in the Main Street District of Downtown Dallas. The structure was completed in 1913 by beer magnate Adolphus Busch to accompany his nearby Hotel Adolphus. The building became vacant with many older buildings during the economic downturn of the 1980s. While the building was symbolic of downtown's crash in the 1980s, it also served as a symbol of the start of the resurrection as it became the first high-rise to be converted from office use to residential apartments. The structure is a Dallas Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Francis J. Kennard American architect

Francis J. Kennard was a prolific architect of many prominent buildings in Tampa, Florida. The public buildings he designed are often in the Neoclassical style. His work includes Hillsborough High School, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and the Belleview-Biltmore Hotel. Kennard employed the French Renaissance Revival style in his design for el Centro Español de Tampa as well as influences from Moorish Revival and Spanish Mediterranean Revival.
