Olga Harriet Aae (born Olga Harriet Rasmussen ; 20 August 1877, Ordrup - 20 December 1965) was a Danish artist. [1]

Her parents were Carl Christian Rasmussen, a wholesaler, and Anna Nicoline Schou.

Art career

From 1901 to 1905 she studied under Harald Foss in Copenhagen. In the summer, she painted under Foss in the open air. From 1920 to 1923, she worked as a painter at the Royal Porcelain Factory in Copenhagen.

She had personal exhibitions in Århus, Horsens, Odense and Copenhagen. In 1942, her works were in Johan Hansen's watercolor auction. She painted flowers and landscapes, mainly watercolors. Through Harald Foss, she was influenced by Vilhelm Kyhn and PC Skovgaard.

Among her works are four watercolor landscapes from Italy (formerly in the Johan Hansen collection) and watercolors (in the Museum of Medical History in Copenhagen).

Personal life

On 15 April 1905, she married painter Arvid Aae in Frederiksberg.

She died on 20 December 1965.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Skagen Painters</span> Late 1870s–early 1900s group of Scandinavian artists

The Skagen Painters were a group of Scandinavian artists who gathered in the village of Skagen, the northernmost part of Denmark, from the late 1870s until the turn of the century. Skagen was a summer destination whose scenic nature, local milieu and social community attracted northern artists to paint en plein air, emulating the French Impressionists—though members of the Skagen colony were also influenced by Realist movements such as the Barbizon school. They broke away from the rather rigid traditions of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, espousing the latest trends that they had learned in Paris. Among the group were Anna and Michael Ancher, Peder Severin Krøyer, Holger Drachmann, Karl Madsen, Laurits Tuxen, Marie Krøyer, Carl Locher, Viggo Johansen and Thorvald Niss from Denmark, Oscar Björck and Johan Krouthén from Sweden, and Christian Krohg and Eilif Peterssen from Norway. The group gathered together regularly at the Brøndums Hotel.

Harald Alfred Hauge (1876–1901) was a Norwegian painter who is remembered for his symbolist works. In 1894, he was one of ten artists who spent the summer months together in the collective known as Vågåsommeren. During his short life he travelled to Denmark, Belgium, France and Spain. Works by Hauge are in the collection of the National Museum of Norway.

Agnes Wieslander (1873–1934) was a Swedish painter who mainly produced landscapes although she also painted still lifes and portraits. Her art education included Harald Foss in Copenhagen, the Académie Colarossi in Paris, Carl Wilhelmson in Gothenburg and Adolf Hölzel in Stuttgart. In 1913, she was one of the founding members of Konstnärsgruppen. Suffering from poor health, she had to abandon art in the 1920s. One of her works is in the collection of Nationalmuseet. Several more can be seen in the Malmö Art Museum.
