Once Upon a Time in Vietnam (Vietnamese : Lửa Phật) is a 2013 Vietnamese action fantasy film directed by and starring Dustin Nguyen along with Roger Yuan. It was released on August 22, 2013. This is the first Vietnamese action fantasy film. [2]
Dustin Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American actor and filmmaker. He is best known for his roles as Harry Truman Ioki on 21 Jump Street and as Johnny Loh on VIP. In film, he is known for starring in Little Fish, The Doom Generation and The Rebel.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) people in Vietnam face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. From 2000, both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal and are believed to never have been criminalized in Vietnamese history. Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh, also known as Nguyễn Hữu Kính and his noble rank Lễ Thành Hầu, was a high-ranking general of Lord Nguyễn Phúc Chu. His military expeditions into the Mekong Delta placed the region firmly under Vietnamese administrative control. Considered to be the most famous military general during the time of Vietnam's southward expansion, Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh founded the city of Saigon in 1698. His establishment of Saigon and military forts in and around the Mekong Delta served as the foundation for later military expeditions by the Vietnamese imperial court in its quest to expand its southern territory. In Vietnam, Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh is widely beloved and revered by the Vietnamese as a national hero with various shrines (miếu) and communal houses (đình) dedicated to him.

Its original title is Rebellious Hot Boy and the Story of Cười, the Prostitute and the Duck, shortened to Rebellious Hot Boy or simply Hot Boy. The film was a strong critical and commercial success in Vietnam. It has been shown at several international festivals, from which it garnered more mixed reviews. In particular its portrayal of homosexuality has been noted as ground breaking within the context of Vietnamese cinema.

The Hồ Chí Minh Prize is an honorary award given by the government of Vietnam in recognition of cultural and/or scientific achievement.
