They are centred on the Sharks union,also based in Durban and drawing players from all of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. The team plays its home matches at the Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium in Durban.
Jake White is a professional rugby union coach and former coach of the South African national team –the Springboks –whom he coached to victory in 2007 Rugby World Cup and the 2004 Tri Nations. White also coached the Under-21 Springbok side to victory in the Under-21 World Cup in 2002. He was coach of the Brumbies in the Super Rugby from 2012,but resigned with two years remaining on his contract in 2013 to return to South Africa. On returning to South Africa,he coached the Sharks for a single season,explaining he wanted to seek international opportunities. This arose in a technical role with the Tongan national team. After assisting Tonga in their 3 Test European Tour in 2014,White was announced as Montpellier's new boss,overseeing all coaching aspects for the club.
The South African Rugby Union (SARU) is the governing body for rugby union in South Africa and is affiliated to World Rugby. It was established in 1992 as the South African Rugby Football Union,from the merger of the South African Rugby Board and the non-racial South African Rugby Union (SACOS),and took up its current name in 2005.
Jacobus Petrus "Os" du Randt is a former South African rugby union loosehead prop who retired as the most-capped forward in the history of the Springboks. For most of his career,he played in the domestic Currie Cup for the Free State Cheetahs,though he spent one season with the Blue Bulls. In Super Rugby,he represented the Free State Cheetahs when South Africa sent its top Currie Cup teams to the competition instead of franchised sides,later represented the Cats franchise,spent one season with the Bulls before returning to the Cats,and still later played for the Cheetahs. He ended his career as one of the last remaining international-level players from the amateur era of the sport and the last active member of the 1995 World Cup-winning squad. His final match was the 2007 Rugby World Cup final,which the Springboks won,with Du Randt playing the entire 80 minutes. He is one of 43 players who have won the Rugby World Cup on multiple occasions,only 24 of whom are South Africans.
Thinus Delport is a South African ex rugby union player who played at wing or fullback for Worcester Warriors and South Africa.
The Southern Spears,were a South African rugby union franchise who were founded in 2005 and were intended to participate in Super 14 from 2007 onwards;however,their proposed entry into the competition led to considerable controversy within the country's rugby establishment. In April 2006,after concerns over the franchise's financial stability and sporting competitiveness,the Spears were denied entry into the Super 14. Following this,the Southern Spears effectively ceased to exist. In June 2009,the Southern Kings,a Port Elizabeth based Super Rugby team,was established and is not connected with the former outfit.
The 2006 Tri Nations Series was the 10th Tri Nations Series,an annual rugby union competition between the national teams of Australia,New Zealand and South Africa. New Zealand won the competition with three rounds still to play after their victory over Australia on 19 August,their 21st consecutive home win.
Petrus Fourie du Preez is a South African former professional rugby union player. He played as a scrum half for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup competition and the Bulls in Super Rugby between 2002 and 2011,and for Japanese Top League side Suntory Sungoliath between 2011 and 2016. He represented South Africa between 2004 and 2015,winning 76 caps,playing in three Rugby World Cup tournaments,and winning the 2007 competition.
The Leopards is a South African professional rugby union team that participates in the annual Currie Cup tournament,currently playing in the First Division,as the representatives of the North West Province. Luke Asher Watson is a South African former rugby union footballer who can play at flank or eighthman. He has represented and captained the South African Schools rugby team (2001),South Africa's under-19 (2002) and under-21 (2004) teams,as well as the Springbok Sevens team (2001). Watson has also captained both the Western Province and the Super Rugby Stormers. He most recently played for the Eastern Province Kings.

Villager Football Club was established on 2 June 1876 and claims to be the second oldest rugby club in Cape Town,South Africa. Villager FC were scheduled to play against Stellenbosch Rugby Football Club in the first official match at Newlands Stadium after it opened on 31 May 1890. Many notable South African rugby players began their careers at the club,including Paddy Carolin,vice-captain on the 1906 Springbok tour to Europe,and former 800m track world record holder Marcello Fiasconaro.
Allister Coetzee is a South African rugby union coach and former player,currently in charge of the Namibian national team. He served as the head coach of the South African national team from April 2016 to February 2018.
The Women's Premier Division is a rugby union club competition for women that is played in South Africa. it is supported by the South African Rugby Union (SARU).
