Oscar Mbongeni Ndlovu, is a South African record producer, podcaster and DJ. He creates house music containing elements of deep house, deep tech, Nu Jazz, broken beat and Lounge music. [1]

He is best known for his founding and starring roles in the entertainment podcast, The Ashmed Hour show. [2]

Early life

Oscar Mbo was born in Pretoria and raised in a Kriel, Mpumalanga west of Witbank where he spent much of his childhood. [1]

Career

In September 2019, he released his debut EP, Life & Love and later in November launched his debut album, Golden Power. He is also a member of the trio group Golden Boys Entertainment. [3]

He has also been featured on Kaya FM's Platinum Friday with T-Bose, [4] Metro FM, TransAfrica Radio and on the Vuzu music television show, Hit Refresh. [5]  He has received an endorsement from Diesel. [6]

In 2019, he did his first international tour in DJOON Club in Paris for DJ Shimza's One Man Show as well as in Mozambique. [8] He has also performed and headlined in festivals such as the House Musiq Festival in Swaziland [9] and the Wololo Music Festival in Witbank. [10]

In October 2020, he released his second studio album titled, For The Groovists, which was nominated for the 27th South African Music Awards for Dance album [11] and featured amapiano producer Kabza De Small. [12]

In February 2021, he performed at Blizz Lounge in Pretoria alongside singer Brian Temba. [13]

In July 2021, he released his EP titled, Defenders of House. [14]

Revolution is a house band formed in Johannesburg, South Africa, consisting of twin brothers George and Joseph Mothiba. They emerged into the spotlight with the release of their third album The Journey in 2002, supported by the hit single Vhavenda, it was recognised as the Best Selling Release at the 2003 South African Music Awards. Since then, they have released a further twelve albums at a rate of close to one per year, achieving some degree of commercial and critical success.

Bongekile Mildred Simelane prominently known as Babes Wodumo(also gqom queen), is a South African singer-songwriter and choreographer. She rose to fame following the release of her debut album Gqom Queen, Vol. 1 (2016) and furthermore subsequently being nominated at the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act.

Mukengerwa Tresor Riziki, best known by his stage name Tresor, is a Congolese-born singer, songwriter, music producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He gained prominence in 2015 after releasing his single "Mount Everest" from his debut album, VII. His name "Tresor", when translated from French, means "treasure".

Malumz on Decks is a house music DJ and producer duo originating from South Africa, consisting of Oscar Nyathi and Mandla Mtshali. Their name "Malumz" when translated from Zulu, means "Uncles".

Jackie Queens is a Zimbabwean-born singer and songwriter. Her music is a combination of House containing elements from deep house and soulful house. She’s also the founder of Bae Electronica, a record label she launched to release her own music and also showcase other black women house musicians.

"Wololo" is the lead single by South African singer-songwriter and choreographer Babes Wodumo from her debut studio album Gqom Queen, Vol. 1 (2016). It was released on 26 April 2016 through West Ink Records and features a guest appearance from Mampintsha with production handled by Distruction Boyz.

Afro tech, is a sub-genre of house music and afro house which originates and is predominantly made in South Africa. It emerged in the 2010s. South African DJs and music producers who popularized the genre include Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Bekzin Terris, Euphonik, Punk Mbedzi, DJ Tira, Zakes Bantwini, Shimza and Da Capo.
