Othman al-Ghanmi (born 1958) is a former military officer with the rank of General in the Iraqi Ground Forces,who served as the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces from 2015 to 2020. [1] [2] He was the Minister of Interior during 2020-2022. On 27 July 2019,he received the Legion of Merit from the United States Armed Forces and became the first Republic of Iraq citizen to receive the award.
Al-Ghanimi was born in 1958 in Sumer,Afak District,Al-Qadisiyyah Governorate.
In 2014 he was appointed deputy chief of staff,having formerly led the Mid Euphrates Command. [3]
