Ough, Nebraska

Ough is a former unincorporated community in Dundy County, Nebraska, United States. All that is left at Ough today is a farmhouse and compound. There are three silos on the Ough farmland. [1]

History

A post office was established at Ough in 1886, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. [2] The community hit a peak population of 25 in 1890. It is named for John Ough, the first postmaster, and his three brothers. [3]

The station was temporarily owned by Clear Channel Communications in a reverse LMA by owner Gary Petricola, who repurchased the AM station in 2007. In February 2016, WJER returned to the FM band with a translator operating on 100.9 MHz.
