Our Moment is the debut fragrance for women endorsed by English-Irish boy band One Direction. [1] It was launched on 6 June 2013 in London. [2] The line includes, besides the 30ml, 50ml and 100ml eau de parfum, a shower gel, a body lotion and a rollerball. [3]

The perfume is the best selling famous fragrance of Christmas 2013. Its sales have beaten fragrances from other celebrities such as Lady Gaga's Fame, Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday and Britney Spears' Fantasy. [4] [5]

Our Moment is the first of the four fragrances to be promoted by One Direction, with That Moment, You & I and Between Us being the other three. [6]

Background

Speculation that a perfume was to be released began in mid-2012 and on 5 June 2013, the first official announcement about the fragrance was released. On 6 June, three images were revealed, peeking the bottle. [7] [8] [9] Later, a full image of the bottle was revealed. [10] The fragrance was presented the same day at a skyscraper in London. [2]

There were 4-second trailers released from the week beginning Monday 12 August, one for each member. The full length advert for the fragrance was released on 24 August 2013. It features the song "My Favourite Things" which originally by Julie Andrews from The Sound of Music covered by Diana Vickers. [11]

Liam Payne has reported that the idea came from a fan's petition. "A Twitter fan started an online petition for us to launch a fragrance, and we talked to our management", he said. [12]

Details

Its top notes are pink grapefruit, wild berries & redcurrants. mid notes are Fresh Freesia, Jasmine Petals & Frangipani. The dry notes are Creamy Musk, Sheer Woods & White Patchouli. [1]

Three different gift sets are available; 30ml perfume with body lotion, 30ml perfume with shower gel and 30ml perfume with shower gel and body lotion. [3]

Critical reception

The fragrance received mostly positive reviews, with Sugarscape saying "Though we find it hard not to be biased when it comes to all things One Direction, we can honestly say that their perfume is pretty damn good." [13]

Awards

The fragrance won an award at the Pure Beauty Awards for best female fragrance. [14]

Glow by JLo 1998 perfume endorsed by Jennifer Lopez

Glow by JLo is a women's fragrance endorsed by American entertainer Jennifer Lopez, and released through Coty Incorporated. It was conceived as far back as 1998 when Lopez announced a lifestyle line that would include a fragrance. Contradictory to assumptions that it would be unsuccessful, it performed extremely well, becoming America's top-selling fragrance. Glow Industries filed a lawsuit against Lopez and Coty to not use the term "Glow", however, a judge denied their request. Along with products from Lopez's fashion and lifestyle line, it brought in over $300 million by 2004. Subsequently, Glow became a successful woman's fragrance line.

Heat (perfume) Perfume endorsed by Beyoncé

Heat is a perfume endorsed by Beyoncé. It was created by her alongside Claude Dir and Olivier Gillotin of the company Givaudan. The product, which was released on February 3, 2010, uses the tagline "catch the fever". The release was promoted with a cover version of "Fever" recorded by Beyoncé and a limited edition extended play (EP) also titled Heat. She also appeared at Macy's Herald Square to launch the perfume and on The Today Show where she discussed about Heat.

S by Shakira Perfume by Shakira

S by Shakira is the first woman's fragrance by Colombian singer songwriter Shakira. Developing an interest in perfumery and scents, Shakira signed an agreement with international fashion company Puig to create a line of beauty and personal care products. S by Shakira is an amber perfume which combines scents of various exotic sources like sambac jasmine, sandalwood, and vanilla. The bottle of the perfume is made of treated glass which reflects light at different angles; it does not have a cap and instead utilises a key-like mechanism to stop the flow of the perfume. Shakira launched S by Shakira at a press release in Madrid, Spain, in June 2010, and it was sent to retail stores in September 2010. Critics praised the scent of S by Shakira, but there was criticism regarding the design of the bottle. It was nominated for a FiFi Award in 2011.

Still Jennifer Lopez is a women's fragrance endorsed by American entertainer Jennifer Lopez, released by Coty, Inc. in September 2003. The fragrance contains notes of sake, mandarin, earl grey, pink freesia, honeysuckle, orange flower, sandalwood, amber and orris. Still Jennifer Lopez followed in the footsteps of Glow by JLo, an international success that shaped the fragrance industry and began a trend in the celebrity endorsement of fragrance. The release of Still Jennifer Lopez was not anticipated due to the negative publicity generated from Lopez's film Gigli (2003) and a fall-out with her manager Benny Medina. Several fragrance industry experts noted that it could ruin the success of Glow by JLo. Rebelle (fragrance)

Rebelle is the second fragrance for women by Barbadian singer Rihanna. The fragrance was released in spring 2012 under the perfume line Parlux Fragrances. The fragrance was made available for purchase on Belk.com, on February 15, 2012. in the United States. It was also available in a special pack at Macy's for a limited time. The pack included the singer's previous fragrance, Reb'l Fleur, her sixth studio album, Talk That Talk and Rebelle.

Glowing by JLo is a women's fragrance endorsed by American entertainer Jennifer Lopez. It was created by Givaudan's Calice Becker and Caroline Sabas. It was released through Coty on May 10, 2012. It was released ten years after her initial fragrance, Glow by JLo (2002) and was also in turn her tenth anniversary with Coty. Prior to its release, Lopez called it a homage and the "evolution of Glow". The bottle was noted for lighting up when in use and Lopez has promoted the fragrance through her music video for "Dance Again".

The product was released exclusively to Bon-Ton Department Stores nationwide on November 8, 2012 in store and online. The flacon of the perfume is inspired by apothecary bottles and is made to resemble a magical potion, featuring a light golden colour scheme.

Rogue by Rihanna

Rogue is the fourth fragrance released by Barbadian singer Rihanna. The fragrance was released in two installments; firstly a women's fragrance and finally a men's cologne. The women's fragrance was officially released on September 4, 2013 under the perfume line, Parlux Fragrances and was made available for purchase on Rihanna's official perfume website and also at Macy's, Dillards and Belk stores.

Eau de Gaga

Eau de Gaga is the second fragrance created by American singer Lady Gaga. The announcement and details of the fragrance were announced on her Haus Laboratories website. The fragrance's notes include white violet, lime, and leather, and it is marketed as being suitable for both men and women.

Rise (perfume) Perfume by Beyoncé

Rise is a perfume endorsed by Beyoncé and distributed through division Coty Beauty of manufacturer Coty, Inc. She collaborated with perfumer Loc Dong from the company International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) for creating the scent. It marks her third fragrance following the release of Heat (2010) and Pulse (2011). Inspired by African-American author Maya Angelou and meant to showcase private sides of Beyoncé's personal life, Rise was created as a woman's fragrance.

Lovely is a 2005 perfume released by Sarah Jessica Parker. Parker’s first fragrance, Lovely is a light floral musk based on a blend Parker had made for herself. The perfume’s formal development was the subject of a 2008 book by New York Times perfume critic Chandler Burr called The Perfect Scent: A Year Behind the Scenes of the Perfume Industry in Paris and New York.
