Owen Slot (born 1967) is a British author and journalist, leading sports coverage for The Times and Sunday Times since 2021. [1]
Of ancient Dutch descent, [2] the elder son of Judge Peter Slot (1932–2020) [3] and Eiluned née Lewis, [4] he was educated at Bradfield College before going up to Durham University.
Slot joined The Times as a sports writer in 2002, becoming its Chief Rugby Correspondent in 2014. [5]
Three-times winner of UK Sports Reporter of the Year [6] and three-times Sports Feature Writer of the Year, [7] Slot has covered ten Olympic Games [8] and every Rugby Union World Cup finals since 1995. [9]
In addition to his other books [10] Slot was ghostwriter for Jonny, the autobiography of Jonny Wilkinson. [11]
Married since 1998 to Juliet Mellstrom, they have three children and live at Barnes, London.
