Natesan Krishnasamy Rangasamy is an Indian politician who is the Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry. He previously served as the chief minister from 2001 to 2006 and from 2006 to 2008 as a member of the Indian National Congress and then from 2011 to 2016 as a member of his own party,the All India N.R. Congress. He holds the record of becoming Chief Minister within three months after creating his own party and also holds the record of becoming chief minister of Puducherry for the fourth time.

Pondicherry became a union territory after the implementation of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution of India in 1962 and changed its name to Puducherry in 2006. These nominated members enjoy same powers as elected members of the assembly.
The All India N.R. Congress is a regional political party formed by the Chief Minister of Puducherry,N. Rangaswamy in the Indian union territory of Puducherry. He announced the party formation on 7 February 2011 in the party's head office in Pondicherry as a breakaway from the Indian National Congress. Currently it is part of the National Democratic Alliance led by the BJP currently the ruling party of India.

M. Vaithianathan is an Indian politician and a current member of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly from the Lawspet constituency. He had earlier won that constituency in an All India N.R. Congress ticket in the 2011 Puducherry Assembly election,polling 10189 votes,defeating V. P. Sivakolundhu of Congress with a margin of 5432 votes. During the 2016 assembly election however,he was denied a ticket from AINRC. He then contested independently but lost to V. P. Sivakolundhu placing himself second in the constituency on poll count. Just prior to the 2021 Puducherry assembly election Vaithianathan joined the Congress party and contested from Lawspet constituency again,this time defeating the Puducherry state BJP president,V. Saminathan by a margin of 5701 votes.
The Makkal Needhi Maiam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry. The party was founded by Kamal Haasan at Madurai on 21 February 2018. He also unveiled the party flag. The flag is symbolised by six interlocked hands,meant to represent co-operation between the Southern states of India. Their election symbol is a battery torchlight.

J. Prakash Kumar is an Independent politician from India. He was elected as a member of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly from Muthialpet (constituency). He defeated Vaiyapuri Manikandan of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam by 934 votes in 2021 Puducherry Assembly election.
P. R. Siva is an Independent politician from India. He was elected as a member of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly from Thirunallar (constituency). He defeated S. Rajasekaran of Bharatiya Janata Party by 1,380 votes in 2021 Puducherry Assembly election.
