The New Zealand Touring Cars Championship is a New Zealand-based motorsport category of touring car racing. MotorSport New Zealand, New Zealand's national governing and sanctioning body for motorsport, awarded the category "New Zealand Touring Car Championship" title status in 1996. Since being awarded national championship title status, drivers and teams across New Zealand had raced in what was at the time New Zealand's premier motorsport category. In 2020, MotorSport New Zealand withdrew title status, awarding it to the new TCR New Zealand Series.
The Bathurst 1000 is a 1,000-kilometre (621.4 mi) touring car race held annually on the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is currently run as part of the Supercars Championship, the most recent incarnation of the Australian Touring Car Championship. In 1987 it was a round of the World Touring Car Championship. The Bathurst 1000 is colloquially known as The Great Race among motorsport fans and media. The race originated with the 1960 Armstrong 500 with a 500 mile race distance at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit; it was relocated to Bathurst in 1963 also with the 500 mile distance and has continued there every year since extending to a 1,000 kilometer race in 1973. The race was traditionally run on the New South Wales Labour-Day long weekend in early October. Since 2001, the race has been run on the weekend following the long weekend, generally the second weekend of October.

Russell Peter Ingall is a former full-time Australian V8 Supercar driver. He won his V8 Supercars title in 2005, and finished second in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2004. Ingall has also won the Bathurst 1000, in 1995 and 1997. His particular driving style earned him the nickname "Enforcer".

The 2000 FAI 1000 was a race for V8 Supercars, held on 19 November 2000 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst in New South Wales Australia. The race was the thirteenth and final round of the 2000 Shell Championship Series. It was the fourth running of the Australia 1000, first held after the organisational split over the Bathurst 1000 that occurred in 1997. It was the 43rd race that traces its lineage back to the 1960 Armstrong 500 held at Phillip Island.
The 1999 FAI 1000 was an endurance race for V8 Supercars. The event was held on 14 November 1999 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia and was the thirteenth and final round of the 1999 Shell Championship Series. It was the first year that the traditional spring endurance race at Bathurst was part of the Australian Touring Car Championship.

It was the fourth V8 Supercar Championship Series but the first to carry that name, previous championships having been contested as the "Shell Championship Series". The winner of the Drivers Championship, Mark Skaife, was also awarded the 43rd Australian Touring Car Championship.

Triple F Racing was an Australian motor racing team that competed in the International V8 Supercars Championship between 2009 and 2012. The team was based on the Gold Coast in Queensland but continued to have strong links with the team's original home in Perth.
Paul Little Racing, commonly known as Toll Racing after naming rights sponsor Toll, was a motorsport team which competed in the V8 Supercars championship. The team ceased operations at the end of 2005, with driver Anthony Tratt retiring from full-time driving.
Briggs Motorsport was an Australian motor racing team which represented Queensland-based businessman John Briggs in the sport. The team last competed in historic motor racing and the Australian GT Championship but was folded at the end of the 2009 season.
The Supercars Challenge was an annual non-championship motor racing event held for cars from the Supercars Championship, and formerly from V8 Supercars, the Shell Championship Series and the Australian Touring Car Championship. The event was held on the Albert Park Circuit in Albert Park, Victoria, Australia as a support event to the Australian Grand Prix.
