Padawan is a sub-district of Kuching District, Sarawak, Malaysia. The name is also used to refer to the local government in Sarawak, the Padawan Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Padawan), and to Bidayuh Village, which is also known as Kampung Padawan. The Jalan Padawan is the name of a road near mile 23 of Kuching-Serian Highway.

Padawan is connected with Kuching-Serian Highway, while 10th mile junction has its own Borneo Heights Link, uptown towards Borneo Highland Resort. Air transportation can be reached by Kuching International Airport, about 4 miles from Kota Padawan (10th mile), hotspot area. Most land transportation are taxis, buses, mini van (known locally as 'Van Sapu') which still popular among the region.

Bidayuh is the collective name for several indigenous groups found in southern Sarawak, Malaysia and northern West Kalimantan, Indonesia, on the island of Borneo, which are broadly similar in language and culture. The name Bidayuh means 'inhabitants of land'. Originally from the western part of Borneo, the collective name Land Dayak was first used during the period of Rajah James Brooke, the White Rajah of Sarawak. At times, they were also lesser referred to as Klemantan people. They constitute one of the main indigenous groups in Sarawak and West Kalimantan and live in towns and villages around Kuching and Serian in the Malaysian state of Sarawak, while in the Indonesian province of West Kalimantan they are mainly concentrated in the northern Sanggau Regency. In Sarawak, most of Bidayuh population can be found within 40 km of the geographical area known as Greater Kuching, within the Kuching and Serian Division. They are the second-largest Dayak ethnic group in Sarawak after the Iban and one of the major Dayak tribes in West Kalimantan.

Pan Borneo Highway, also known as Trans-Borneo Highway or Trans-Kalimantan Highway, is a road network on Borneo Island connecting two Malaysian states, Sabah and Sarawak, with Brunei and Kalimantan region in Indonesia. The highway is numbered AH150 in the Asian Highway Network and as Federal Route 1 in Sarawak. In Sabah, the route numbers given are 1, 13 and 22. The highway is a joint project between both governments which started as soon as the formation of Malaysia in 1963 which comprised Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore. The lack of a road network system in Sarawak was the main factor of the construction.

Jalan Kuching–Serian is a major highway in the Kuching, Samarahan and Serian Divisions in Sarawak, Malaysia. This highway is part of the Pan Borneo Highway (AH150), part municipal council road and part state road.

The Diocese of Kuching is a diocese of the Anglican Church of the Province of South East Asia that covers Sarawak and Brunei. Founded in 1962, the see was originally established as the Bishopric of Sarawak linked to the Diocese of Labuan in 1855. Batu Kawa is a suburban area located right next to the 3rd Mile Roundabout in Kuching Division, State of Sarawak in Malaysia. The mukim is administratively under the Padawan Municipal Council. The Pan Borneo Highway passing through the area links Kuching City with Bau, Lundu and Sematan further west. This place is also known to have many hornet nest.

Padawan Municipal Council is a local authority which administers Padawan municipality of the Kuching District, Sarawak, Malaysia. The agency is under the purview of Sarawak Ministry of Local Government and Community Development. MPP headquarters is located at Kota Padawan, at 10th mile away from Kuching city centre. The council aimed to improve infrastructure development and provide quality services to its residents besides preserving the environment.

High intensity rainfall since 17 January 2015 caused major flooding across several parts of Sarawak and Sabah. Around 13,878 people had been evacuated with one teenage girl became the only casualty.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Kuching Urban Transportation System</span>

The Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) is an under-construction autonomous rail rapid transit (ART) system network in Kuching, Malaysia. It is the first metro rail system to be built in the state of Sarawak which was touted as one of the methods to ease traffic congestion in the city of Kuching. The project is to be constructed using state funds provided by the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS). The proposed ART lines will connect Kuching to Samarahan and Serian as well as future lines to other parts of Greater Kuching. The Premier of Sarawak, Abang Abdul Rahman Johari Abang Openg had initially promised to build the first Kuching ART soon to avoid rising costs, with Chinese companies offering their expertise to collaborate in the construction.
