Esports, short for electronic sports, is a form of competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, played individually or as teams.
Football is the most popular sport in Brazil and a prominent part of the country's national identity. The team also played with a red home kit between 1933 and 1942, as a protest to the introduction of professionalism. It hosts its matches at Independência stadium. The club has the third largest fan base among the teams from Minas Gerais.

At the top of the Brazilian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B. In 2021, the competition was chosen by the IFFHS as the strongest national league in South America as well as the strongest in the world.
Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP) is a professional esports organisation based in Sweden that is best known for its Counter-Strike teams. In 2012, the team reformed with a Counter Strike: Global Offensive lineup upon the release of the game. Aside from Counter-Strike, the organisation has teams in Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, FIFA, Rocket League, Fortnite Battle Royale and League of Legends. They formerly had teams in Overwatch, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Paladins.

The League Championship Series (LCS) was the top level of professional League of Legends in the United States and Canada. The esports league was run by Riot Games and had anywhere from eight to 10 teams. Each annual season of competition was divided into two splits, spring and summer, which concluded with a double-elimination tournament between the top teams. At the end of the season, the winner, runners-up and third-place team of the summer playoffs qualified for the annual League of Legends World Championship.

The Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends was the top level of professional League of Legends competition in Brazil. There were anywhere from eight to ten teams in the league. Each annual season of play was divided into two splits, marked Split 1 and Split 2, both consisting of eighteen rounds of round-robin tournament play, which then concluded with play-off tournaments between the top six teams. The winners of each split qualified for the Mid-Season Invitational and World Championship respectively.

The esports league is run by Riot Games and has sixteen teams split into two conferences, North and South. Each annual season of competition is divided into three splits, with playoff competition between the top teams. At the end of each split, the best teams qualify for the three international tournaments – The winner of the first split qualifies for the First Stand Tournament, the winners of each conference in the second split qualify for the Mid Season Invitational, and the top three teams in the third split playoffs qualify for the annual League of Legends World Championship.
