The Legislative Palace (Spanish : Palacio Legislativo) [1] [2] in Montevideo, Uruguay, is the site where the Uruguayan parliament meets.
The construction of this building started in 1904 sponsored by the government of President José Batlle y Ordoñez. The building has 27 different colors of Marble. All extracted from Uruguayan quarries.
It was designed by Italian architects Vittorio Meano and Gaetano Moretti, who planned the building's interior that is covered with marble. Among the notable contributors to the project was sculptor José Belloni, who created numerous reliefs and allegorical sculptures for the building.
The building was inaugurated on August 25th, 1925 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The inauguration was presided over by President José Serrato; before then, the Uruguayan parliament assembled at the Montevideo Cabildo." [3]
The building was declared a National Historic Monument in 1975 by the government of President Juan María Bordaberry.

Centro is the inner city barrio of Montevideo, Uruguay. Its main avenue is 18 de Julio Avenue. It is delimited by La Paz Str. to the North, Florida Str. and Andes Str. to the West, Canelones Str. to the South and Barrios Amorin Str. to the East. It used to be the main commercial venue of the city, but after the opening of the first malls, many small stores started closing down. Now, that process is being reverted and the area is coming back to life.
The Obelisk of Montevideo, officially listed as the Obelisco a los Constituyentes de 1830, is a monument created by sculptor José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín (1891-1975). It is a three-sided obelisk made of granite, 40 metres (130 ft) tall with three bronze statues on its sides, representing "Law", "Liberty" and "Force". It has a hexagonal water fountain around it with six spheres on its outer circumference. It is located at the intersection of 18 de Julio and Artigas Boulevard avenues, in Montevideo, at the entrance of the Parque Batlle area. It was built in 1930 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of Uruguay and is an homage to the participants of the General Assembly of the first Constitution.

Route 5 is a national route of Uruguay. In 1975, it was assigned the name Brigadier General Fructuoso Rivera, a national hero of Uruguay. The road is approximately 501 kilometres (311 mi) in length. Upon reaching Santana do Livramento, the road joins federal highway BR-158.
