The Coupe de France Lord Derby, or just Coupe Lord Derby, is the premier knockout competition for the sport of rugby league football in France, as well as the name of its championship trophy. The tournament was first contested in 1934–35, which also marked the inaugural season of the French Rugby League Championship.
XIII Catalan is a rugby league team from Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales region of southern France. They were founded in 1934, and thus were founding members of the French rugby league championship. In 2000 their senior team merged with nearby neighbours AS Saint Estève to form Union Treiziste Catalane, now better known in the English-speaking world by their Super League identity of Catalans Dragons.

The club was formed in 1916 and they enjoyed their best spell during the 1950s when they lifted the Lord Derby Cup twice and reached two other finals as well as being runners up in the French rugby league championship. The Stade Georges Vialls is a rugby stadium in Palau-del-Vidre in France. Palau XIII Broncos the local rugby league team who play in the Elite One Championship have, since their founding in 1920 always used the ground. The ground is named after a former player who was born in the area and played for the first team. The ground is situated next to the Tech river and has one main stand. Some British clubs when they are in France to play Catalans Dragons they use the ground prior to the match to train on. The ground hosted two youth internationals in 2009 and in 2011.
Racing Club Baho XIII who are more commonly known as RC Baho XIII are a semi-professional rugby league team based in the town of Baho in the region of Pyrenees-Orientales in southern France. The club compete in the Elite Two Championship which is the second tier rugby league competition in France. Their home ground is the Stade Municipal de Baho and they are coached by Didier Meynard.
Jacques Jorda, is a French former rugby league player and coach. Starting in rugby union for Stade Toulousain, he made his debut with the club in First Division in 1966 before joining Carcassonne in 1967 and then, USA Perpignan in 1969. In 1971 he switches codes opting for rugby league and for XIII Catalan from Perpignan where he won the French Championship and the Lord Derby Cup.He was concurrently the coach for Saint-Jacques, Soler and Palau before coaching XIII Catalan and France national team leading the latter to an historic success against Great Britain. He ended his career as director of the French Rugby League Federation.
