Palesa Mokubung is a South African fashion designer. She is the founder and creative director of the Mantsho, a South African Fashion Label. She is the first African designer to collaborate with the Swedish fashion company H&M to create a collection. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Early years and education

Mokubung was born in Kroonstad, Free State. In 2014 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design from Vanderbijlpark Technical College. [1] [2] [8] [7]

Career

Mokubung completed her fashion schooling in 2000 and began working as an in-house designer at Stoned Cherrie, a local fashion brand. [1] After working there for three years she left to enter a design competition, S’camto Groundbreakers. When she won the competition she travelled to New York and Mumbai for six months and there she showed her first solo range. She established the Mantsho label, which means black is beautiful, in 2004. [3] [2] [4] In that same year, she designed her first solo collection, which was shown at the 8th annual South Africa Fashion Week. [9] [8] Her brand has featured on numerous runways including Greece, India, USA, Jamaica, Nigeria, Botswana and Senegal. In October 2018 she showed her collection at the BRICS show, along with designers from Brazil, Russia, India, and China. [10] [2]

Veronique Branquinho is a Belgian fashion designer of Portuguese ancestry who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, from which she graduated in 1995. In 1997, she presented her first womenswear collection in Paris and in 1998 she founded her namesake brand Veronique Branquinho. She quickly rose to prominence in the international fashion scene and in 2003 she extended her brand with fall men's collection. In 2009, she decided to stop her label, as a consequence of the 2008 financial crisis, but she revived it three years later, in collaboration with Italian manufacturer Gibò. Virgil Abloh was an American fashion designer and entrepreneur. Beatrice Looi is a Malaysian fashion designer from Kuala Lumpur. She was named one of the Top 10 Malaysian Bridal Gown Designers in 2017. Her label Beatrice Looi Couture has been nominated as one of the Top Asian Bridal Designers by United Kingdom's Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Magazine. She was also named Malaysia's "Top 40, Under 40" by Le Prestige magazine for her achievement in the fashion industry.

Lebohang Motsoeli, is a South African television presenter, actress, MC, voice-over artist, scriptwriter and producer. One of the most popular woman sports commentators in South Africa, she has performed in many local and international sport events such as; "Special Olympics", "International Paralympic World Athletics Champions" and "All Africa Games".
