Paltan Bazaar [1] [2] is a locality of Guwahati, Assam. It is surrounded by the localities of Pan Bazaar, Ulubari, Rehabari, Fancy Bazaar. Its location in the central part of the city-centre is the hub for transportation and hotels in Guwahati, Assam. With Guwahati Railway Station, the ASTC bus stand, numerous hotels, restaurants, offices and stops of numerous private bus service (regional) providers, makes it one of the busiest and congested area of city. [3] There are also many small shops selling traditional garments from various parts of the North-East.

Uzan Bazar is a residential and commercial centre of Guwahati and one of the oldest settlements in the city. It is located in the northern part of the city with the river Brahmaputra flowing alongside in north. It houses some of the major tourist as well as sites of regional importance in and around its area. This area is the nearest of the residential areas as far as the river is concerned, is famous for its fish market of fished out varieties from the river.

Athgaon is a locality in Guwahati with nearest Railway station and airport at Paltan Bazaar and Borjhar respectively. It is an important commercial area within city and large business houses are set up here. Due to central location it is accessible from all parts of city with regular city buses and other modes of transportation.

Sarusajai is a locality in the southern part of Guwahati, Assam, India. It is surrounded by Lalmati, Lokhra, Bhetapara, Hatigaon and Basistha and is near to National Highway 37. It is the location of Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium.

It derives its name from the Jail and gallows for hanging (phansi) that was situated in this area—the municipal records still calls it Phansi bazaar.

Rehabari is a locality of Guwahati. It is surrounded by localities of Paltan Bazaar and Athgaon.

Gauhati East Assembly constituency is one of the 126 assembly constituencies of Assam a northeast state of India. Gauhati East is also part of Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency. The Gauhati East constituency is the only fully urban Legislative Assembly constituency of Assam. Located in the heart of the city of Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, the constituency includes areas such as Pan Bazar, Uzan Bazar, Fancy Bazar, Paltan Bazar, etc. which makes it the most prestigious of all the Legislative Assembly Constituencies of Assam.
