International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation BJJ Federation

The International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) is a for-profit company that hosts several of the biggest Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) tournaments in the world, including the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, World No-Gi Championship, Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship, and European Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship. The federation was created by Carlos Gracie, Jr., who is the head of one of the largest Brazilian jiu-jitsu associations, Gracie Barra. The IBJJF uses the ruleset of the Confederação Brasileira de Jiu-Jitsu. On October 11, 2020, the IBJJF announced that they will begin to allow both heel hooks and knee-reaping for all brown and black belts competing in no-gi tournaments, starting on an undisclosed date in 2021.

The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American Championship, is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in North America. The event is held annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

World Jiu-Jitsu Championship Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions

The World Jiu-Jitsu Championship is an annual Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament organised by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). It is regarded by some as the toughest and the most prestigious Gi tournament in the world. The first World Jiu-Jitsu Championship known as Mundial de Jiu Jitsu took place in February 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2007 the tournament moved to the US, taking place every year since then in California.

The European Championship or European Open is the most prestigious and largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Europe by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). The tournament is an open championship accepting competitors from all countries.

Alliance Jiu Jitsu Brazilian jiu-jitsu association

Alliance is one of the most prominent Brazilian jiu-jitsu associations and the current defending World team champion, having won the titles at the World Championships from 2008 to 2016. They also won the World Championships back to back in 1998 and 1999. Alliance was founded by Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti and his students: Fabio Gurgel, Alexandre Paiva, and Fernando Gurgel. Alliance Global headquarters is in Atlanta, Georgia at the Alliance Martial Arts Academy, where "Jacare" is the head instructor. Fabio Gurgel, also known as the "General", is the co-leader of Alliance and the head instructor at Alliance São Paulo. Alexandre "Gigi" Paiva heads the third main Alliance academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Leandro Vieira is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor and competitor and a co-founder of Checkmat. He is also the Brazilian jiu-jitsu head coach for the MMA team at American Kickboxing Academy, renowned for being one of the most successful teams in the world.

The World No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship is a no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament hosted annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation held at California State University in Long Beach, California. Since its creation in 2007, Caio Terra has won 10 No-Gi World Championships, the highest in IBJJF No-Gi competition history, and Michelle Nicolini, Luiza Monteiro and Gabrielle Garcia have each won 4 No-Gi World Championships, tying for the highest number of women's championships.

The Asian Championship is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Asia by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

Caio Terra Jiu-Jitsu fighter

Caio Terra is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) competitor and world champion. Caio began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003 and received his black belt in 2006. His promotion to black belt is one of the quickest recorded in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu history.

European No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship is a No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament hosted annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. It was first held in 2012 in London, England and has been held subsequently each year in Rome, Italy.

Devhonte Johnson often referred to as “Bones” is a black belt Professional Jiu-Jitsu Competitor who heads the Unity Jiu Jitsu team. He specializes in the Lasso Guard and Stack Pass techniques. In 2019 Devhonte opened his own gym, Bones BJJ located in Clifton, NJ.
